XTR 525 Sprokets
Hi...
I have been trying to fnd somewhere that sells 525 sprockets for a XTR... OTR sells sprokets & chain kits... But I don't want to ship a chain half way around the world when I can buy them here... dose anyone sell just 525 sprockets ?? |

Theres are the standard size 520 sprockets... May have to end up ordering from OTR ..:sad5: |
I was thinking the same.. Extra miles on delivery.
But when I see the ZVM-X chain for 130 after buying the whole 525 set for 145 inc postage, what the hell. ;) |
Ordered Sunday, Delivered Wednesday... OTR. :)
Delivered to work. I'm not at work today, hmm, guess I'll have to wait 'till tomorrow. |
OK, own up, who put the standard 520 sprockets in the box with the 525 chain?
Not amazingly impressed. Loosen front sprocket nut, split chain, drop rear wheel, remove rear sprocket, remove front sprocket (bytch), fit new sprockets, fit rear wheel, put new chain on.... Luckily I noticed the play in the chain/sprockets before I rivetted the new chain on!.. BOLX. Ok put it all back as it was, waste of a couple of hours :( Also lucky I had clip-link (temporary) on old chain so I could re-fit. Hmm, not like I can ride to the shop to get the correct parts. I don't know how much thicker the 525 sprockets should be? but I'm sure they shouldn't be the same thickness as the original 520 sprockets? Before I do it all again, I will drill a piece of metal for pulling front sprocket off. :) |

Knowing my luck that would happen to me... LOL..might be the 525 kit... 525 chain on 520 sprockets..:Christo_pull_hair: |
All in all, apologetic, correct sprockets dispatched, said to keep the incorrect sprockets - not worth the postage. Spares it is then. ;)
So maybe a supplier of 525 XT sprockets in the UK would be benificial. |

on there own... I usealy go though 2 or 3 front sprockets to 1 rear..front dose 3 times the work and a tighter radius so it wares quicker... Front sprocket will take the chain & rear sprocket with it , if yer let it get to worn... Maybe better to stay with the 520 set up the more I think about it.. untill someone sells 14T & 45T sprockets on there own.... ( thats where a lot of chain ware comes from... People exspect the front sprocket to do the same mileage as the rear...) |
Phone TALON engineering of YEOVIL SOMERSET they can make sprockets.

Recieved the 525 sprockets. I ordered the 15/46 combination originally, but settled for 16/46 as 15 was out of stock when I contacted them back?
I wish they'd told me from the begining. Was advised the 47 wouldn't fit the chain I'd purchased with the 16, so settled for 16/46. ......Only to find, after abit of grease and sweat, the chain still too short on 46.. Doh. So I went to my local Yam blokey and got another chain, couldn't be bothered to hasstle OTR again. It seemed rude of me, postage time too. Whilst sorting chain at shop had a word about 525 sprockets, Blokey said sourcing them shouldn't be a problem as they can get all sorts. They use a company for custom made sprockets, but he doubts our bike has a rare stud pattern/spacing. I'll jot down the numbers on the 525's and next time I'm in the shop have another chat. |
