Tyre size - rear
I know it is a dumb question, but is it OK to put a 17 inch 140/80 (instead of the recommended 130/80) on the rear of the 660 Ten? I killed my Heidenau K60 rear in Uzbekistan and my choices are severely limited. Thanks

Yup you'll be right. There should still be clearance all round.

Cheers fella. I managed to find a bald, squared off Michelin Anakee in 120/70 to keep me going, but I need a decent tyre very soon and a 140/80 might be available (when I get to Kyrgystan). I think I will go for it. Thanks again.

I've a heidenau scout 140 rear on mine for the last 9000 miles or so and its good, though due for replacement. I think the scout only comes in a 140.

Hell no, I run a 130 Scout and it performs just fine, great tyre.

Dosent the 140 scout have more tread on it than the 130

how wide a tyre , really depends on what you ride on....
I have found for lose gravel a 120 works better than a 130 or 140.. look at a rally car... loser the surface the narrower the tyre they use... Wide tyres sit on the top... narrow cut though into the hard base easyer.. If yer use the ten on seal mostly the 140 could work well for yer.. If yer ride seal & off road go with a 130. Biggers better is not alway true.. |
I have to agree with Petenz. In fact, next Mitas i'll put on will be 120, just to feel my self are there any benefits.
