Ok, NOW I'm I Belong Here

Finally! Today I picked up my brand new Xt660Z Tenere, and I can't be happier. I bought it from Bikebiz in Parramatta (Sydney), then rode it home to the Central Coast.

What can I say? I am on cloud nine. I've yet to set it up properly, but its more than enough for the time being. Pulls like a train, so comfortable and is incredibly responsive. So much better than my old XT600 with ex-army long range tank. This is going to be a very long love affair.

Sorry, I'm gushing. As soon as I work out how to post photos, I'll do it. Now excuse me whilst I go & drool on the poor girl......:headbang:

As an old bike rider once said

"son (he said to me) nothing sadder than a new bike going home in the back of a ute"

So did you go straight up the F3 or out through Penrith, Lithgo, Bells liner way, Old Putty road etc... Gee you could of just about had it ready for its first service.

Hi mate.

Unfortunately, it was getting a bit late by the time I got away (nearly 4PM), but I did jump onto the old Pacific Highway from Berowra for a bit of a play & to try to scrub in the new tyres a bit. Only thing was that I forgot that they'd changed the speed limit north of the Hawkesbury River down to 60Kph (& love to stake it out for all of us godless biker scum too). It was so depressing and boring that I just got back onto the F3 at Mt White. That said, it was still a top ride & I'm well pleased. The Putty, BLoR, etc will definitely get a visit in time (along with the Watagan Mountains, Barrington Tops, Blue Mountains, etc).

I'm surprised just how comfortable the Tenere is. My last bike was a cruiser with a gel seat, & this thing ****s all over it. The handling is superb too. I only have to think what I want to do, & the bike seems to just do it without any fuss. I also love the slightly antisocial bark of the exhaust and sputter/popping when trailing throttle (can't work out if the looks I'm getting are admiration/envy, or else contempt/ suspicion :074:).

Now, for a dumb question. How do I insert photos? When I click the 'Insert Image' button, it just comes up with a pop up requesting a URL. What am I missing? (probably something bloody obvious :smilies0943:)

Hi ScottyD,

Welcome from me, although I'm even more a newbie than you are, my friend!

I'm a bit surprised none of the established members have popped in to answer this one for you, but, here is my understanding... and someone will no doubt soon correct me if I'm wrong.

As a "standard" member you can't upload pictures (or other attachments) directly onto the forum. You first need to upload your pics onto a "hosting" website such as Photobucket and then cut and paste the URL to the pic into the pop-up you found.

Later on, if you decide to become an XT Supporter, you will get allocated extra rights to be able to upload pictures or other attachments directly.

There's an excellent "How To" sticky from CaptMoto in the "Site Help and Suggestions" forum which you can find here: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...pload+pictures

Cheers,
DaveR
