Since my last post we are now well on with making a complete new set of link pipes that we will be happy to exchange for any MTC ones that may not fit correctly.
we have a late model XT660X in our workshop that we are working on and I`ll post pictures as soon as its done. Grim Reaper and ourselves have been in contact via email and his purchase will be completed to his satisfaction. just as an aside, we`ve had a great relationship with XT660.com for about 3 years now and despite selling many exhausts to many happy customers as well as developing the single sided xtz 660 Z (which is in great demand ) this is the first problem we`ve had, which has been identified to our link pipe supplier making a link pipe batch wrong, which we didn`t know about until they were sent out, sometimes mistakes in life happen, we are holding our hands up, its our fault, we apologise, however, please give us the oppertunity to make things right, we pride ourselves in customer service and try our best to remedy any problem that may occur. We are always available via email and or phone for any advice or information you may need . personal insults do not help any situation, sometimes you need to engage brain before typing. On a personal note, I've used MTC, and I wouldn't go past them for any other can. I've also used Akrapovics on a Varadero - the link pipes on that were wrong, but Ak-crap-ovic weren't interested, they put the problem down to installer error.... it wasn't, I proved it, and they were forced to comply. wouldn't touch them with a club hammer any more. |
Dear all I am sorry I have missed this post as I've been too busy with other matters.
First and foremost let me remind everyone that personally I wouldn't allow any company to sell their product through :660: unless I was sure of their quality, service, after sale follow up and indeed solid company history. MTC ticks all those boxes, which in return is peace of mind for you, me and for them. Now another thing that I wasn't aware is that recently MTC have invested in their own link pipe bending machine, I wish I knew but I have only just found out. Let's give them a chance to fine tune these machines, and you have read it yourselves that they are prepared to exchange FREE of charge any link pipe which is has a design fault. All you have to do is either contact them directly or by all means let me know and I will help you liase with them. As I've said I have only have praises for MTC and have never dealt with a nicer bunch of guys than what Paul and Martin are, two very helpful tireless chaps. Give them a chance and they will put things right. What I don't like is the name calling and the slagging off, when you do that you offend me before you offend them because I did all the R&R to search for the best British made exhausts company which would be able to offer top quality, and prices to suit all pockets from basic stainless steel to carbon and titanium there is no other company that offer you so much choice. I will now leave this thread a few more days until MTC has sorted all the niggling issues with the link pipes but then I will delete every slandering message and I will ask you in future that if any of you has any problem with a company which is sponsored through this forum that you contact me, so that I can get right to the bottom of it and sort it out for you. Insults and slander do not work. Trust me. And thanks for appreciating where I am coming from. Peace. |
I have no issue with the first pipes being bent wrong...
I have done that myself... But really the way you attempted to fix it with the concave flow restricter you put in to clear the chain.. Ok I will pull my head in now.... |

Let's conclude with the understanding that MTC is on the case and soon we will hear from them that a new redesigned link has been jigged that will signify the end to all these problems until then I ask you to wait patiently and to stop sh|t stirring even if you are doing it in good geist. It's not needed right now. Thank you. |
While MTC are working on the new jig, this thread is now closed.
Anyone with issues wth MTC exhaust please contact the forum Admin or MTC directly, do not use this forum as a Jeremy Kyle show, wayneovetten you have behaved in a manner which instead of being constructive, was flamatory and seeking to raise more unrest than provide a solution. We are here for that reason to provide solutions not to raise hell. Please comply with our forum etiquette, to avoid incurring in disciplinary issues with us. Thanks Mort, your funnies about the sledge hammer were not funnies (not the first time, not the second and not even the third time) Please don't give up your day job for a career as a stand up comedian, at least not here. Thanks Over and out. |
Please note this thread has been re-opened following an imminent announcement to be made by MTC Exhausts on their new link pipes.
I ask you all nicely that, if you must comment or add to this thread, bear in mind we will not tolerate the level of slander that was written by some people which had to be cleaned. We are watching this thread and will delete any crap, and if such is repeated, the forum memberships of those people will be limited to view only. |
MTC NEW link pipes!!!
Hi All,
We have some positive news for you all. We have ran off our first set of the new design XT link pipes and we are happy with the progress. We have now reduced the size of the pipes from 44mm to 40mm so we now avoid the chain and the side stand easily without the need for any dent in the pipe. We have also added more clearance to the right hand pipe as there was a lot of confusion with different swing arms for x and r models and different years. We have done all this work on an XT660X as we are to belive that the X has the bulkier of the two swing arms. Athough the hard work is done in that we have made the first set, we now have to run 50 sets of them off, cut them to size, endform the up and send them to our polishers. Our part shouldnt take too long but we can never predict how long it will take our polisher to run them through and get them back to us. I estimate that we should have them back and all finished within around 3 weeks but we will keep you updated through this thread. Here are some pictures of the link pipes fitted to the bike to show the clearances we will have from now on. Again we are sorry for any inconvenience caused due to the link pipe issues but rest assured we are working hard to put it right. Looking good :)

Excellent work Paul & Martin at MTC!

Lookin good,
Any chance putting my name down, for a set of replacement link pipes,??? |

That looks like the dog's b****ks & a MASSIVE improvement on the originals!!!! I DEFINITELY want mine swapped for these. If the pipe has shrunk from 42 to 40mm, will there be any implications e.g. gas flow etc? Will the original (rather nice) stainless clamps still fit or also need replacing?? Please would Capt Moto advise the best way to get my name on the list. Thanks. |

PM me and I will help you sorting it out with MTC. :023: |
Any news from MTC? Any ideas when the new pipes will be back from the polishers? Ideal 'rainy day' job coming up, what with the cr*p weather forecast....
An update would be greatly appreciated. |
Yes there is as a matter of fact!
I got a text from my folks this morning to say a package has arrived for me. I have also received an email from MTC a few days ago informing me that they were sending the link pipes out. I'm no detective but I would assume that is what's in the package :) I'm off work on Wednesday so i'll pick it up then and give you a better update with pics. |
Just got a confirmation email with a TNT tracking number - hopefully get new link pipes tomorrow!!!!!!
Will post results/feedback here. |
Well that's them fitted :)
No issues whatsoever and the cans even sit at the same height. Too dark in the garage to take pics now but I'll try taking some tomorrow before work. I'd like to thanks to the guys at MTC and hope I haven't caused too much trouble. There was obviously an issue with this particular range of link pipes however this has been sorted and I would recommend them as they finish the bike off nicely. |
Nice one,
And well done again for starting this thread, the beers are on you,:onetequila: |
I do love a happy ending! :grouphug[1]:

TNT man delivered pipes to my office a couple of hours back. They look good & include new, smaller spacers & allen bolts. I just hope the promised rain holds off long enough to fit them this evening - if not, tomorrow morning....... |
+1
Got mine this morning and fitted this afternoon,. Perfect. Loads of room and level . Big thank you to the :CM for his help but a bigger thanks to MTC for sorting it all out, glad you included the spaces, as I lost the original, So I am well happy, ::052::052: |
Fitted this morning, so happy bunny!

Anyway, a big thank you to MTC & the 'Captn' for resolving this & restoring confidence in MTC! Notice from my pics that a put a bit of heat proof silicone around the end of the baffle to stop it making a bid for freedom - there is also half a bottle of Loktite in the securing screws. |
