Kevs Fuel mod.

Thanks for the welcome. Just going to check out Kevs fuel mod and other good stuff. Looking forward to getting my X fully sorted. Also having a little trouble selecting third gear, can you tell me if this has came up in previous threads. It is a little worrying. Thanks again.

With regards to the 3rd gear problems, are you by any chance using some of those beefy off road boots with a very pronounced shape? Because if that is the case you need to unscrew the gear selector pedal off the spindle and refit it one or two teeth down to allow yourself more room with the boot.

If it's a mechanical problem that the 3rd gear won't engage then it's for a mechanic to check.

I've had third gear issues to the point it was jumping out of gear under load...pulled engine apart and i needed 3rd & 4th gears but was cheaper and easier to buy second hand engine. i do have a thread on kev page with some pictures to give you idea what could go wrong

Thanks for the replies chaps. Checked out the gear shifter today, It was slightly loose, so I checked the splines, gave it a clean and refitted it , tightening well. Tried it for a quick blast and (touch wood) it seems OK.
Interesting what you said about the boots Capt`n, I have been wearing MX boots, although when I tested today I was just wearing trainers.

You see? The reason I knew it is that same happened to me with MX boots, but as I have explained if you must wear those boots there is a way around it by lowering the gear lever. Tried and tested.

I will lower the shifter a notch or two tomorrow. I knew joining this forum would pay off...:signthankspin: I am still a bit confused about the best thing to do re. engine surging. Should I start by adjusting the CO and checking the tickover, before forking out on Kev`s excellent mod.? Bear in mind I have blown my budget on buying the bike , and the Aussie$ is pretty strong just now.:violin:

CaptMoto 15-07-12 05:55

As far as I understand the Tenere doesn't have a CO adjustment, only the XTX/XTR do so the Kev mod is your cheapest way to peace of mind. Look, 1000's of Tenere owners bought that little mod and they are swering by it.

Joining the XT Suppoorters will give you access to a plethora of knowledge not available to regular members, I would consider it if I were you.

Ok Capt`n. I do own an XTX and not a Tenere so I think I will join up and be a supporter. I know it will pay dividends. And having Kev there for advice will give me peace of mind as I am a bit afraid of tinkering with what I don`t understand.
I would also like to post some photos so I will study up on how to do that aswell.:064:
