I'm not sure if they are handed or simply two left legs in essence, with the correct front wheel/hub to take twin discs...

That could be an option too?

Try finding a twin-disc KTM front end ;)

I agree with Singleminded - the Transalp would be a better option - the DL650 just won't cut it [off road], and while it might be a fun project, the end result is going to look pretty home-made unless you are a wizz with bodywork...

If the older 650 (or even current 700) Transalp doesn't do it for you, how about something like a Honda Dominator, or even a Kawasaki KLR650...

But ultimately, the current XT660Z Tenere really is the best of that class of bike for refinement vs. genuine off-road ability... hopefully Fiddich can convince you!

Im too big for the old transalp, plus it feels too heavy/slow, the newer 700 just doesnt have any feel, fun, character (my uncle, dad and others all had a test ride on one when it was released and all had the same issues as above so its not just me)

Ive no issues with the bike looking a bit home made, i like that look, ive even considered getting one of the 04/05 versions, chopping it like ive said then rat biking it.

Hmm considered the dominator but again not really what im looking for, same with the klr

Yep lets hope the tenere is what im looking for

There's lots of them on the fronts of all the KTMs... :slywink:

True. I suppose you could just follow one along till it breaks down, then when the owner goes to get help, nip along with your spanners and whip the forks out :D

Fiddich you agreed to lend the tenere to me but never confirmed as to when you wanted it back!!!!:bowling:

As i say i know now after i few different bikes what i think i want, and this bike (ie the next one i get) in my mind im going to keep again for a good 4-5 years like i did with my XTR, so's going to have to be able to handle a good 40k miles being put on by me and also a good bit of off roading.
