side stand question

Hi all, not quite a newbie....
I have gone for some lowering links for my xt660z terere (09). They are the ones with 4 way adjustment, and I am putting them on at the 25mm reduction. I have also dropped the yokes down the the forks the same amount. So the side stand is going to be too long. So the question is; will one off an X or R fit (as I can't find a tenere one)? I don't mind cutting the length down, what I want to know about is the the pivot/top part.
I have had a go at living with it, but I am 6 foot and I still think it is high as standard, I am sure it would topple on me at some point. Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi, yes I have thought of that, and if I can get another stand I will probably do it. I want to have one standard one though. I am thinking of having an adjustable lenght one, with an insert that can be added in or taken out, but need another stand to work on. If an X or R will fit at the top that is what I will do, hence the question. Can anybody help with this?

Not sure of the answer but i think if your not looking about cutting the existing/rewelding is

Buy a X/R side stand and try it, if it doesnt work resell it

or

Find someone near you that has an X/R and doesnt mind lending you his stand for a few minutes, hours, days:eusa_dance:
