Noise issues
Hi all,
I took my xtx in today to get a roadworthy prior to registration. It failed for being over the noise limit?? I don't know by how much the bike is over, it's either a pass/fail sort of arrangement. I'ts a stock 05 xtx running GYT-R pipes. does anyone know if these pipes can be baffled in some way to make them a little quieter?? or would i just be better to find a pair of stock pipes and head back for a re inspection thx slider |
Couldn't tell you...best off asking at yamaha bike shop...but as your go state that tests every year your best off getting some standard pipes just for this reason. here in south australia we don't have them tests only defects,I've got twin staintunes with the silencers removed and yes there load even pulling up next to police, they look and turn away

This is just a once off test, i don't need to get an inspection done every year, i think thats NSW, so i just need to get throughout this noise test and i won't need the std pipes again.

I would fit you standard pipes back on for the test, or remove your baffles & reduce the baffle intake size by half for the test.

i'm in geelong, about an hour from Melbourne,
If i had std pipes to fit it wouldn't be a problem, it wil cost me $300 for a 2nd hand (NOS) set, or time and effort to fit baffels, and as i've just moved in to a new house, i don't have a workshop set up yet to do work like this :BangHead: breaks my heart to pay $$$ for stuff like this...... slider |
Think there is a few xt660 your way,if so ask if you could borrow them for a few beers just so you can get it tested would be cheaper
