I have the same problem. My new Pipewerx pipes are on a van heading for my house, and the old gaskets are stuck in the old pipes. My local Yamaha dealer reckons 3 days delivery and 12 each for new gaskets. I guess it depends on how well the pipe company has sized the link pipes does it, whether one can get away with simply using exhaust sealant??

I can answer my own question now. The Pipewerx pipes DO need gaskets, and you can't get them out of the old pipes. So.....I have my nice new pipes and no way to fit them. ******. :(

I've had my entire exhaust system on and off several times, and swapped from the Yamaha/Akra back end to an MTC single can, without replacing any of the gaskets in the Y-piece. They look a bit flaky, but still seem to seal OK

I guess things are different on the XTZ. On the XTR, each downpipe has an aluminium(?) gasket at the joint to the standard silencer. According to the manual, when you take the pipe off, the gasket can be on the downpipe, or in the silencer pipe. If it stays on the downpipe, result! If not, you have to try to get it out and apparently that's not easily done without totally messing it up. As I want to re-use the standard pipes from time to time, the only option is to get a new set of gaskets for the new pipes.

BTW, I found a pattern part that is cheaper than the OEM one. Fingers crossed it fits OK.

Good point, I fitted my Leo Vinces without worrying about gaskets so I assume that mine stayed on the end of the pipe, wow that was lucky!!!
