Newbie from the midlands
HI
Im Phil from the Midlands (UK), picking up an 09 Tenere 2mo and cant wait! Also have a Fazer 1000 which i adore. First things for the Ten......bigger pegs, maybe bar risers/new bars and some tyres. Been reading on here about tyres.....what a mind field! oh, need some panniers too so if any way has some for sale let me know. roll on 2mo!! cheers http://i725.photobucket.com/albums/w...nja/Tenere.jpg |
Welcome to the fold.
TKC80s are always a good tyre choice, I've done at least 150,000 miles on them. Decent enough offroad (there are better but it's a trade off with on road use), and they OK on tarmac in the wet. I did Senegal and back on a 1200GS Adventure on one set of tyres, so as long as you are gentle with them the mileage is OK. I have some 'well-used' panniers (Yamaha OEM) which I will be selling shortly, need to try to remember how to get the pannier rails off the bike... I'll post details in a couple of days. Tim |
Welcome enlightened one.
I say enlightened for two reasons, firstly you have chosen a steed of such calibre, second because you have chosen the original Tenere colour, but it is a heavy cross to carry, many others didn't acquire the correct colour and hide their embarrassment and failure behind shallow quips. Do not hate them, just pity them. :icon_burnout[1]: Now, go and have a look here -> http://www.xt660.com/forumdisplay.php?f=198 The best way to figure out what you need/want is to look at other bikes, where better than a meeting of like minded individuals ? Oh, and have some fun too! |
:hello: and :welcome: to :660:

Hi
|
Welcome, didn't know that there were many of the 'stealth' versions out there!
With your enthusiasm I'm pretty sure that you are going to have a lot of fun. As GULGO says get yourself signed up for the meet in a few weeks time and you will be blown away at just what this bike can and will do. The many modifications will keep you busy for the next year and you'll probably stop riding your other bike. Unfortunatley this is one of the 'problems' with being a Teneheric!, it's infectious!!!!!!! PS you do camp don't you? That's another trait of the Khaki biker, Oh as well as drinking lots of beer and talking crap! (Well I do!):110: |
Just had another thought. A friend of mine is probably selling some panniers and frames for a Ten. I'll give him a call and get him to contact you.:006:
|
Hi. I'm in Birmingham on Sea where are you? I would be interested in how you get on with the Yam as i am seriously considering one for some global travelling
I have an F8gs which I bought for the trip but I just don't like. (BMW owners have a price on my head for airing such opinions so I have to be discreet) |
Ps where/when is this meet?
If its obvious I still missed it! Using iPhone so lots of page sliding |

:hello: Hello Phil and welcome aboard.
|
Welcome Phil
Welcome mate. Bike does look great in hearing aid beige, this coming from one who apparently should be pitied!!
You will soon see what people mean about modding your bike. I rode mine for almost a year to get a feel for what could be improved before spending up bigtime on the mods. It was a great bike stock, and now it's even better. Enjoy your ride & welcome. Boneman |
Hello and welcome.
Dont worry about the fact you that you have a stealth colour. Every one knows that Blue is beautiful. !! :violence: Enjoy your fist day, it only gets better. |

Many will quip about your 'flying hearing aid' but they are all jealous! :bounce016: :smilies0944: with it and enjoy!!!! Ps When it gets mucky you don't have to clean it as you can't tell!!! Bonus! |

Hi and welcome Phil, yep beige is a pretty exclusive colour!
all the best stoic |
Hi guys, thanks for the welcome.
"hearing aid brown"...is that what you call it!:icon_monkey: i like it because its not so common and i thought it would look good when covered it mud and scratches. As for panniers....i just want some second hand ones, as long as they work with no cracks or major damage i dont care what they look like. just looking at tyres at the mo, looking at MT21's, mitas E0-9, TKC's and....is it Mich T63?? just trying to find a good (cheap) supplier. |
