525

Anyone tried a 525 chain? Not very happy about Regina stock chain life or DID VX2 I replaced it with and saw OTR offering DID ZVMX 525 for XT and advertising a 30% higher tensile strength... Any pros / cons on going for a 525 kit?

Why bother with 525.....

With 15-20,000 miles easily obtainable (more with Scottoiler?) from std chain I can't see the point.
Unless your bike is tuned to the heavens (sorry moon - I'm an atheist!) and back it'll just be more to sap the engines power IMHO.

To put it into perspective, what mileage are you getting at present?

You're getting a lot more mileage out of the chain then I do...

18k km on standard Regina chain, after that I had to adjust every 200km or so. Sprockets looked okish, not much wear but I changed them too. 17k km on DID VX2 which now has uneven wear ( about 1/3 tight as hell, the rest normal ). Front sprocket ( JT ) showing some wear but not major.

The two drawbacks I would see would be harder to find 525 sprockets - but that's solved as I have found and the fact that both Regina / DID looked more flexible than any 525 chain I saw by now... I would assume that translates in transmission robbing more power from the engine but no idea by how much or if I'd feel it, that's why I asked if anyone tried.

Can anyone tell me if in an original Yamaha replacement chain and sprocket set the chain come complete ? ie no need for a chain riveter to if
