would you bother ensuring the oil is flowing ( releasing the bleed nut)?- I used to do this on other XTs |

Did mine yesterday, quite an easy job for me

Excellent explanation. Very useful and may save a few engines to not mention the bane of stripped screw threads

great article one of the best pictorials I have seen. But, I would underline or bold or capitalise the part about using a cutoff container or something to catch the spurting oil from the front tank drain plug. I didnt realise the amount of pressure behind that plug and when I removed it I couldn't catch it all because I was only using a smallish funnel. Consequently I have oil all over my front wheel and disc and on my driveway. One to catch out the newbies I suppose, but would make that VERY CLEAR to avoid others having to go thru the same ****.
