i want to reduce the weight of the back.

sezian 02-02-12 12:54

Go on a diet !!!

GBX 02-02-12 13:04

I guess look for one with a removable baffle... and dont remove it?
Read reviews, but most aftermarket exhausts are made to make bikes sound a little more meaty :/

Akrapovics are very quiet (only marginally more noisy than stock) with the baffles in. I guess they're something like half the weight of the stock cans. Maximum weight reduction I guess would come from a 2-1 system.

I got akro 2 in 1 on my tenere, mega light and looks pretty but off road i dont think its going to look pretty for long, i,ve had akro,s on all my enduro ktm,s but the akro for the tenere is the lightest pipe i,ve ever felt, but it sounds like a lot louder than stock.

Stock cans are the quietest you will find.

There have been many many discussions about weight loss on bikes and many many times it has been concluded the best way to save weight is to diet yourself.

If you require your bike to be soo light youre riding the wrong bike.

it's true that the arrow silencers have only 5 db more than stock?

mac-cos 07-02-12 10:31

+5dB is quite a lot more noise than stock.. Showing my aged and faded memory so apols if incorrect but I seem to recall a 2.5dB increase is a doubling in noise/volume o/p (cant be h'@rsed to goodle it for accuracy).
As everyone is saying if you want quiet stay with stock. Anything else that is lighter is going to be louder. The Yam option Akras (with cats) on my XT660Z were a fair bit louder even with the dB reducers left in.

Leo Vince cans are light and very little louder than stock at low revs, they do "growl" when the revs rise. I have just ordered a pair for my XT660X, I have already fitted one onto my XJR and it sounds really great so here's hoping!!! The weight saving is more than 3kg http://www.leovince.com/it/catalogo-...660r_2004/7762
Ciao Simon
