Latest thoughts on road Tenere winter tyres
Just read through a few posts .. Avon Distanzas get good feedback.
I really don't like the OE Tourances ... anything other than 100% dry and they feel iffy. They seem to be lasting very well though, says a lot about their composition and why they're crap in the wet! Anyone used the Bridgestone Battlewings on the Ten? What about the Conti Trail attacks? Cheers. |
Just took a set of tourance exp's of my s10 . They stuck like cr@p to a blankie. Used them in wet dry and frosty (roads white with frost) and didn't letme down. Downside was the rear was done after 3.4k miles and wasnt good in mud. Now got new style k60s on which are m&s marked though not tested em in Icy conditions yet. The siracs on my old 660z didn't like greasy bus lanes but seemed ok otherwise. Ps I think the dogs dangles for winter road use are mich pr3s but don't think they have any off road capability and seem expensive.

I put TKC80s on for winter as I don't like to be stopped by the snow. I've used Bridgestone Battlewings and they were ok until the snow/slush got to be more than half inch deep. Probably a bit less wet grip than Pirelli Scorpion Trails in general use.
Problem is with long road miles the TKCs don't last very long, not the environment for them I guess. |

Not really looking for something that performs in the snow ... for me snow and motorcycles are a no no! When I say winter, I mean something that is good in the wet and warms up easily, probably a softer tyre tbh. Most def for 100% street use! cheers. |

Siracs are pretty old technology now. I'd love PR3's but they don't come in a 21" front :( Cheers. |
Having used both, I'd say the Scorpions are slightly better in the wet than the BW501/2s.

Hi all, i rode home from work this morning & it was very
icey, all the bike wanted to do was lie down on its side, Ive got standard tyres on from new but ive lowered it by 40mm & the forks lowered by 30mm, ive been riding in all wheathers on a yamaha TTR250 without the front trying to wash out. My question is, is it the tyres or mayb The weight of the bike or me lowering it? Thanx all |

I don't think the conti TAs will be any better on grimy winter roads - too little tread. I was considering a change for winter, but I was thinking Metzeler Sahara 3. Supposed to be better than TKCs on the tar Rob |
