Clutch cover
Does anyone have any suggestions (helpful ones anyway :-) ) for removing the clutch cover.
I've removed the bolts and it's still stuck fast, there doesn't seem to be anywhere to supply an leverage and I don't really want to try just jamming a screwdriver in the joint as I would like to save the gasket, although if that is my only option I'll have to do it. The service manual doesn't supply much assistance for this task either. |
Tap it gently around the sides with a rubber mallet while trying to pull it off the same time, should come off then

Thanks, worked a treat. Now i just need to figure out how to remove the clutch without the tool and how to get at/remove the shifter.

Go & buy a cheap electric rattle gun from your local hardware store.

If so, with bike on centre stand in gear, wrap a tie down strap around rear brake pedal and stand leg and pull as tight as poss to lock rear wheel solid. Crack down on long wrench with extension bar supported by an axle stand if neccessary and Bob's your Uncle! Done it many times without major harm to chain (I think the engine does that!) Specialist tools are always preferrable though!! ;-) |
Unfortunately, no chain on the bike at the moment and also no 29mm socket for the nut grrr!!!

And having bought a 29mm socket I now discover its a 30mm

Back brake on and put it in top gear (not first as it will move the wheel)and then wollop the extension bar/socket with a club hammer...should loosen off with that...
