Centre stand rubber inserts

Hi guys, please please please tell me how to put in the smaller rubber insert into the Yamaha centre stand?

I`ve tried boiling water, grease, fairy liquid, brute force and nothing is happening. Because of its length it just keeps bending when trying to put pressure onto it in any way. Trying to get it from the other side with needle nose pliers is just damaging it. I`ve spent 3 hours trying to get this thing into the hole!

It got to the point where i was going to cut it off and simply glue the damn thing on!

Can you advise?

I also could not get it through, I had to cut the sides off, push it through and insert a pin through the end
Would be interesting to hear how to do it

I thought I was stupid to not get it through, that's why I kept quiet

I remember mine being a pig to do aswell. Think I trimmed it down in the end after trying exactly what you have. Don't understand why Yamaha couldn't have supplied them fitted already.

I gave up!

Then i realised that it technically wasn't `structural`, it was simply to stop metal banging into metal, so i simply cut the end off and then slotted it in, then applied copious amounts of locktite to it.I`ll keep checking it to see if its still there.

The rest of the stand went on in less time than I had taken faffing around with the ****** lol!

Stand now looks good and works correctly.

Oh and the springs were a doddle. The 2p trick wasnt working, but a length of rope, another pair of hands and they went on in 2 seconds :)

I just used Armourall on mine. It took a fair bit of effort, but eventually it saw things may way. I had a small, blunt screwdriver and pushed the rubber throught the hole bit by bit. Hope I don't have to do it again soon, though!

Got mine on ok and also used a mini screwdriver to ease one section in at a time while keeping pressure on it.

Had the same problems. Used hot water, a bit of silicon grease, a small flat blade to push it in and a pair of needle nose pliers to pull ...all at the same time. It took longer to get the rubbers in than installing the stand.

The springs go on real easy with a large flat blade screw driver.

Yeah, I found the same thing. I made a wire loop and hauled on the springs with a bar through it. Like you say, no problem.

I did find I had to check the nuts on the stand pivot bolts. They kept loosening for a while but seem to have settled now with the help of Locktite.

Just enlarge hole for 1mm and then no problems with insertion of rubber.
