Anybody fitted a rev counter taking signal from ECU?

There is many thread about tachometer in this forum

I have fitted Autogauge Electrica tachometer (suitable 1-10 cylinder).

This tachometer was sensitive about interference. I must put 10k ohm serial resistor to sensor line. Tachometer has been in use two years and it has worked well.

Suitable tachometer types depends your bike model:
Models 2004 - 06 are twin spark => spark plug fires once per crank revolution.
My bike is 2007 and it is single spark type => fires once per two crank revolutions => tachometer must support single cylinder mode.
I don't know about 2008-12 models

I read all the results on tachometer / rev counter search. Since the motor is identical to XTZ, MT06 that comes from factory with a tachometer i was interested if there is any wire from ECU to take the signal.
I also want to install a gear indicator (to many times i'm searcing for the 6th gear). I read that it is possible to plug and play the speed sensor but it also needs the tacho signal. For instalation it sais to locate the ECU, find the tach signal wire. So is the orange wire one? Thanks guys!

Orange wire from the ECU to the ign coil, or wrap the inductive pick up wire around the HT lead.

Have you looked in the modifiction index under electrical after market rev counter?

I had same issue. I had street bike with 6 gear before XTR and many times I was looking for 6th gear. I have fitted gipro x-type gear indicator ( http://www.healtech-electronics.com/) and problem solved.
I have used indicator 3 years and it shows correct gear every time when clutch is released. If clutch is pressed down for longer time then indicator shows something else.

All right; I know it is an old thread but hopefully someone will answer my question.

I got a flat battery today and after jump starting the bike through leads connected to the car, I noticed that rpm meter is showing incorrect data. Basically, when the bike is not running, the small pointer shows that I am having like 3000rpm. Any chance to reset this or do I have to actually open the tachometer itself and calibrate it by hand?

Thanks a lot :)

Hi Bregar, did you find a solution to your problem? My tacho is showing incorrect crazy speed since battery change so i cannot ride cause the kilometers are going up very fast. How can i fix this? How did you? Thanks bro
