Akrapovic without db-killers

Hi all,

I have a question that concerns me. I have a stock XT660X with a set of Akrapovic slip-ons with no air mods. I took out the db-killers from the exhausts and I'm wondering won't the bike be too lean now seeing that the pipes are practically open pipes? Won't I need to enrich the mixture a bit or is it ok to leave the bike as is?

Thanks for the help in advance,

Freakyfreak

I actually think mine runs a lot better with them out! The bike feels more free. And the sound is monstrous. I think to loud for me. Going to mod the db-killers and see what the sound and feel of the bike is like.

It's an illusion, there was a time many years ago when I thought louder mean't faster.

It's not the sound its the surging. Doesn't surge almost anything. But I'm going to mod the db-killers :) The sound is too loud!

I run MTC open race cans on my 06 XT and have set the CO to 20 runs much better at lower revs down to 35 mph in top with no chugging and will pull cleanly from there.I also run NGK Iridium IX CR8EIX one heat range colder than standard and the ceramic insulator nose is a nice tan colour so this setting is within good operating parameters for air fuel ratio.
