which mods first ???

hi all
picked the bike up on friday (05 xtx) and loving it so far,
its had a tail tidy fitted which has the indicators fitted into the rear light, i've ordered some led indicators and a numberplate light to sort out the rear i don't fancy hassle if i get pulled,
the headlight they have fitted means they have butchered the light mounting bracket, the light is beyond useless when it gets dark no beam what so ever(although it looks good), to fit the standard unit back i'm going to need to source a new one if anyone should happen to have 1 knocking about ???
but i really need to sort the surging
i read all the posts all over the net before i bought the bike so knew it was going to be there, its just plan dangerous for me at the moment as its on off on off going round roundabouts for me
so what to do first is the main question ?????
only thing fitted so far is a pair of pipeworx cans
and just checked ecu and its 5VK 8591A 01

Hi and WELCOME!

now im no XT expert, you'll need kev or capt for that! but on my XTX i have chucked stage 1 and 2 filters on and the Kev mod...Not only will you get a lot more power through the whole rev range as the engine can breath better, you can adjust the kev fuel mod to get it just right on your motor to get rid of 99% of the surging. Very easy to fit as well even if your not electrically minded.

If you have more money than myself....I believe the PC-III or PC-V are the ones to go for, PM kev for more details on these though i would say!

Let us know how you get on and post some pics!

oh and one more thing which I was advised to do, Up your CO2 settings on your dash (see 'How To' section for details on this).....piece of piss tho!

I upper the co on the dash by 5 on the way to the girlfriends and seems to have improved a little, going to try 3 more on the way home and see how that goes
Can the surge be removed just from adjusting the co ???

If you look in the mods section of the site you will find all the info you need on how much to up it by etc. The surging cannot be completely removed by this im fairly sure it will take other mods, try a stage 1 filter (DNA or K&N) and PM kev for details about his fueling mod or a power commander.

Click on the blue link below, lots of info there for you.

I've read most of that but some posts say go no more than 10 up others have gone loads more but have the use of a AF meter, what's safe ? Can it do damage ? Will it cure all stutter ?
here is some pics before i picked her up
as you can see some extensive mods all ready, tailtidy with rear light mounted right under rear plastics (no numberplate light) indicators are integral part of rear light 1 half side flashes amber for indicator (illegal in uk, and i don't like) he had a small number plate (5"x5") fitted it actually fits between the cans and is no lower than them
pipeworx cans
some kind of enduro headlight again with indicators built in, completely useless when it gets dark, no light shines on the road what so ever,
hand guards
various stickers scattered about
looks like the rear of chain guard has been cut down

plans are, refit standard front indicators(done), till leds are sourced that fit original mounts
refit standard headlight (need to source mounting bracket 1 on bike has had all bottom section removed and the bulb plug this has also hacked off)
move number plate up to bottom of cans, add led indicators either side and a number plate light
removed some stickers that are not to my taste,
repainted the stripe on chain guard from silver to red, red bolts added on chain guard bracket
co1 value upped by 10 to reduce surg
i'm sure more stuff will come a long, air filter, kev mod :) etc
