XTX trip in Europe, preparation advice needed!

Hi guys and girls

Soon I will be hopping on a ferry to Santander with two other friends on their bikes, me on my 2004 XTX, and then riding back home over a week and a bit.

I saw in this thread: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...ghlight=europe

that on the Z you can convert to KPH by

is this the same on the X? (I'm away from bike atm so can't check!)

Do I need to stick any tape on my headlight. or does it have a non biased beam?

Has anyone done a similar trip to me, and have any hints, tips, pointers, routes, places to visit etc? I am not sure which way is best to travel through France: up the West, centre, or East?

Cheers for any advice!

Hazza - can't help you with the tech question, but have a look at this for advice on things to do:

also here:

I guess what I am saying is not to speed off into France too quickly, but to take a few days exploring the mountains. You'll find info on both these links about a campsite for bikers about half way across on the Spanish side - see:

http://www.anzanigo.com/inicio.html

Emilio is a bit odd, but knows the area and biking like the back of his hand, the food is good, there is a pool, he has all the local routes mapped out (just ask to see stuff from behind the bar - or if you have no spanish, you can point), its quite cheap, and bikes!

Also, as you head on into France - another stop off point must be:

Hope that helps.

Try to take in a circuit of the Picos National Park, base yourself in or around Potes for the night .Great cable car ride nearby.

Only about 100 miles south of Santander.
