Engine paint
 

This might be old news, but I seem to remember seeing a few posts on not being able to find a match from Yamaha for the ever present peeling paint on the engine.
A mechanic at a dealer told me he had the same problem, and has found that the paint Yamaha use for their outboard motors is the same colour and probably higher quality as it has to deal with sea salt spray.

I have problem with peeling paint on my engine.
Where can I find that paint - at yamaha dealer or?
Did you see paint on his XT motor. Does it look ok?

I'm not sure on suppliers, but presumably someone who sells the engines could get some. And yes it looked pretty good on his.

Try official car paint dealers (like PPG) or car paintshop. Usually they have color model chips and you can compare them to your engine block color. Once you find correct color, theyll mix it up for you :icon_salut:

I think I'm going to do something about engine paint this summer.

To update, he tells me it's available on eBay as jet ski paint. There are two colours, one is too blue, and it's the other one that matches. Sorry it's a bit vague.

The Yamaha outboard paint is code YMM-30400-GM.

If you google it you will see there is a primer and clear lacquer available too.

I have used the paint on it's own on parts of my XTR engine, the colour is close to the original but slightly bluer.
