It has settled with a few mods, MM 2 into 1, DIY Kevmod, a bit of liberating of the airbox.... at about 60mpg in normal riding. It was better on the long runs and I do thrash it for some of this.

On the standard pipes i reckon the cats crap up a bit with normal stop start commuting so a bit of throttle hand de-coking seems a good idea and engine loosening... It is only a little 660 after all :)

How the hell do you guys do that?

I really don't get how on earth someone could get 73 mpg with an XTX/XTR. I don't trash it and the BEST I can do is around 50 and that's really driving carefully. I have tried both with and without DNA 1+2, Kev mod and PC III (actually Kev mod gave me better mpg than PC III). At the moment I'm running with PC III and DNA stage 1, snorkel removed and I can barely do 50 in my commute, usually worse.

What am I doing wrong? Chain is oiled, bearings are ok, tyres are fine, filters and oil are changed.
