Crash Bars

Hi all,
Very subjective I know but what is the consensus on crash bars for the tenere, having being brought up on the things in years gone by on various old Japanese monoliths I cant make my mind up on the tenere I like the look of the Hepco and becker ones for robustness and general coverage/protection most of my riding is on the road with the occaisional track to explore are they a hinderance off road ie snagging on various obstacles etc ? So there we are any guidance advice will be much appreciated what have you got on yours?

Horses for courses.

I've ditched my bike a few times off-road, I don't have any crash bars and apart from one or two scratches it's fine.

On the plus side, they do give you protection on the road, and something to hold the bike by to lift it.

dowside, they are heavy

upside, you can attach things to them,

There are so many opposing reasons for and against, it really does come down to where you ride, what you want and how you fel about them.

I would have been looking at a costly repair bill for engine casing/water pump after I punted my Ten down the road and into a hedge at ca.50mph a while back if I hadn't had the crash bars in place. Not had a problem with them in my limited excursions off road.

GULG's right.

I've fitted the H&B ones which are indeed very protective and offer an excellent mount for the auxiliary lights too..

Fortunately I have yet to test them out for real!
