Decisions decisions decisions

I really have too much time on my hands.

I love my bike but its lacking in the looks department. Seriously considering going all black with red or blue rim tape. I love Yamahas in blue but I dont know, it looks flat to me. I have added some photos, 1 real 4 mock ups.

Let me know your thoughts in a post and vote.

If I just change the rim tape we are looking at less than a tenner, if I do the plastics its going to cost 137 plus rim tape.

Blue panels - red tape...no
Black panels - blue tape...no

The others could work, can't really tell from a photoshop.

Here's my vote...

Cheers mate, appreciate the input. Your bike is one of the ones inspiring me. I'm not into stickers and Yamaha decals are truly shocking to buy so the clear panel look is the only way.

richardsracingmad 16-02-11 21:16

there was no White and Red option...so I went Black with Red...tis nearly as good.

I have two bicycles in white, I am not subjecting myself to that on the XT! Yes white is stunning in the flesh so to speak but a bit to clinical for me I think. I prefer the pain of a black bike!

I am waiting to see what others state before I make my choice. I am my own man but as I cannot seem to make my mind up I thought I would throw it out there to push me.

Currently erring on the low cost option of blue panels with white tape. Hardly any work, and even less spend. Thats not to say the work and spend is a hurdle its not but I have been known to throw my money away!

Black and red for me

maxwell123455 17-02-11 21:08

My personel is the blue and blue. But the bike does look cracker with or without it

Tony660x 18-02-11 00:06

Guys, thanks for the input, as I say I really have too much time on my hands. After sleeping on it I think for the moment I am leaving it as it is, I may add a sticker or two to it to lift it a little but other than that I may save my cash for other goodies.

PCIII on route to me so I can put a better map on it. New front disc about to be ordered to sort that out and ride ride ride!

I may wait till winter before I get the next few things done.

You might like to place some discreet white logos on tank and headlight panels:

Black and NO rim tape would be my choice.

Wow !!
Tony unable to make his mind up??? Who'd believe that:hahaha[1]:

To tell the truth i am still surprised you still have her tony.
But she don't half look good.
To add my thoughts... when i was doing the paint job, the panels we used were black. I put them on the bike like that and boy was i tempted to just leave it black.
Denny's does look good
So black is my option but we all know you love your blue
good luck either way

Cheers Meach, I love this bike its superb, thansk for letting me buy it! From memory did you take a picture of the bike in black panels before you did the "Julian" photos?

Still have them? No worries if not. I have decided to keep it blue for the time being and just swap the rim tape to white. See how that looks in the flesh then take it from there.

I am just removing the Kev mod and installing a PCIII as we speak. I just popped back to the computer to read Kevs PCIII installation instructions so I am off to get that done now.

Adding Images

Hi, I have a blue XT660X and just added some graphics I originally took from this site (Ranni's Stickers) and changed them a little. I would like to know what people think, but I cannot upload my photo's ??

When I click the 'Insert Image', it asks for url, and not an image file ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated ?

Thanks

richardsracingmad 21-02-11 17:19

I don't think that is the case, pretty sure you can load images without subscribing although I highly recommend it

Stu...use imageshack.us to load your picture, or open a photobucket account.

Pretty cool looking. Its a bit too fussy for me but its nice to see something different.

StuXT 21-02-11 19:24

Thanks to richardsracingmad for putting up the pics for me. The bike was plain blue when I got it, not too my liking and I know a lot you guys out there do like the 'No Colour' look. Everyone to their own .... Must say that the XT looks nice with or without colour, as the style of the bike itself looks good. I do prefer my bike now that it has some graphics on it though. Thanks to Ranni for his basic design, who a friend of mine took on board and turned into what you see today.

I have almost but got rid off the engine juttering at low revs now, by fitting stage 1 and 2 filters, the Kev fuel mod and an Arrow exhaust system. Still need to play around with the fuel mod a bit more to get the best out of it since fitting the exhausts though. The bike feels so much better now, why Yamaha never did this ??

Anyway, hope you like the pics.

richardsracingmad 21-02-11 20:02

yes...I love the graphics.

G4ND3RS 16-03-11 12:43

Just to add my input.... mine is all black, no logos and i have silver rim tape. i also thought that my bike was lacking in the looks department (hence the rim tape trial) but i have now decided that i do not like the bling bling posseur thing and i am taking the rim tape off. my bike is black and dirty (like my women :S ) and you know, i quite like it that way.

Stealth look, I like it.

I have finalised on the blue panels and white reflective rim tape. I am leaving it as that as I dont want it in your face etc. I was put off changing to black by a comment Kev offered where the black shows the scratches easy so in the spirit of not being frightened to actually use my bike I am keeping with my favourite colour blue.

I appreciate all input. It helps taking from peoples experience as it is saving me time/money/effort. Money being the most important as I have all the time in the world for talking anything XT!

SimonRoma 21-02-12 17:59

Well I have had an orange 07, a white 08 and I now have the blue 11 with the gold wheels which I think looks really great!!!!
