Metzeler Lasertec

After getting a surprising 17,000 km out of the Tourance OEM tyres, I decided to retire (no pun intended) them and mount something more suited to the majority of riding I do. I mostly ride in an urban jungle, thus I decided that knobbies and road/trail tyres were out, so I started researching a suitable road tyre for urban conditions. I settled on the Metzeler Lasertec. As it promised to be a Bias Sport Touring type of tire with "high silica content" (sand?) compound rubber to help with wet road grip. Slipping and sliding on wet, greasy, densely trafficked roads is never fun and winter is approaching so I thought "why not?".

Thus far I have not been disappointed. The day I had the tyres fitted it rained heavily and their grip and performance in the wet surpassed the dual purpose tyres I was used to. The dry performance also inspires confidence. Rear breaking is much better with the grip certainly exceeding the Tourance OEM tyres, the Lasertec on the rear is much, much harder to lock-up and slide on the tarmac. As for longevity, we shall have to see. But so far so good!

They do last very well for the grip they have. I had two fronts and one back on a XJ600S and was pleased with them.
