Pirelli Scorpion Trails
Fitted last wednesday, probably done not even 100 miles on them but here are my first impressions.

Similar intentions to the Bridgestone Battlewings I ran last autumn they are claimed by Pirelli to be 95% on road, 5% off road. That being said I think they have a more aggressive tread pattern than the Bridgestones, so would expect them to have more bite and clearance. Riding impressions; the front feels very committed and rolls into bends with little effort. The back feels a little more vague unless you are pushing on, and then it feels absolutely firm and stuck to the road. No problems with wet grip at all, either in corners or on the brakes. Very happy so far. I paid �137 shipped for the pair. |

The Bridgestone Battlewings didn't have much in the way of tread either, yet they were fine for the majority of riding I do-

I've had them on my Tenere for the last year and a half and really like them on the road. Very progressive lean from them with no sudden drop like you get from the Tourances.
I've put over 4k miles on mine with only a slight squaring off on the rear. (In comparrison, the standard Tourance rear was worn right down with similar riding). I recon I could get another 3-4k's out of them which is unheard of for me on a bike. They are standard fitment on the Ducati Multistrada as well. Al. |
Might have to go for a rear one of these on my R as i normally get tourances as the local tyre fitters deals with them so gets them cheap and fits them cheap (rear cost i think around �70 to take old tyre off, dispose, fit new one and blanance, all on a free rear wheel)
Not bad but when i only get around 6-7k miles to the rear depending on riding style or winter/summer riding means i would pay a bit more for a tyre that would last longer. Saying that never really hand any problems with the tourances apart from a slight slick feeling in wet conditions but think this just could be greasy roads or me pushing bit too hard for town conditions. |
