As requested some pics of how I have mounted my Scottoiler. This is my own personal preference as it allows you to reach down if it starts to rain and increase oil flow. It makes filling very easy and onviously checking the oil level is easy. It will rotate around the frame tube easily if you need to get at the rear brake master cylinder reservoir.
Here is the vacuum takeoff. Simply cut the pipe and fit the 'T' piece that comes with the kit. http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0397.jpg http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0396.jpg http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0398.jpg http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0399.jpg http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0401.jpg Left hand side of bike, here the oil tube comes from the other side of the bike and is loosely zip tied to the frame to stop it getting by the chain. It runs down on the top os the swing arm spindle and is routed along the swing arm itself. I have superglued the tube into the flanged plastic carrier and zip tied for good measure. http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0402.jpg http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0403.jpg http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0404.jpg http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0405.jpg At the end of the swingarm I have drilled and tapped an M6 hole to secure the bracket as shown. This will make getting the rear wheel out without disturbing the pipe and keep it out of harms way when offroading. The chain looks pretty uncherished at the moment as I have not had the opportunity to ride it with the scottoiler functioning. http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...c/DSCF0406.jpg Hope this is of some help and interest. Cheers and see some of you guys up at Kettlewell next weekend.:109: |
Thanks for the photo's - I have got a Scotoiler sat at home waiting to be attached and was wondering what may be the best way to go about it, couple of questions if I may:
1. The location of the reservoir - I noticed on the Scotoiler fitting instructions it suggests mounting it there, but I was worried that it's just asking to get broken in the event of a fall when off roading (something that accompanies every effort of mine to go off road), have you found that this location is pretty safe from impact? Am I worrying over nothing? 2. On the Scotoiler instructions it shows the feed pipe being routed through the swingarm somehow, have you avoided this just so you don't have to use the rear axle to mount the feeder? |

Thanks, I guess I'm just being paranoid then with my visions of Scotoiler oil getting spread all over the bike :)

My shock reservoir is tucked up there Steve, and I've had no problems.

Thanks for that Tricky.I ow keep my bike in a locked garage at a mates' house, private drive etc, electric doors, so pretty secure. I will get another big chain as this one is the only one that I have ever seen that will not crop, locks are not a problem. Thanbks for the heads up. Hope you are OK and will try and meet up again one day.:drunken_smilie: |

Why do you need to drill and tap for the Scottoiler? I've fitted this system to my Ten, as per the instructions from this site - just search on here and I think it's better to feed the pipework inside the swing arm.. If you want pic's I can help, just ket me know. |
Fantastic, well done, I like them all.
