has anyone tried raptor 700 ECU??

it would require a bit of wiring but many features are the same

the stock Raptor 700 ECU would eliminate the o2 sensors and put the rev limiter up to 8800 rpm,, timing control would need to be adressed as the 700 ecu limits around 75 mph on the atv (6k rpm in 5th gear),, the sensor is eliminated using a few different methods, the one we prefer is using the DYNATEK programmable ignition...

there are direct replacement ECU's for the Raptor made by PRO-COM (which does not have the best reputation in the past for reliability) that are fully programmable IGNITION AND FUEL side with the ability to change many features....

from doing a few DRAG RACE light weight harneses on the raptor's ive found that the wiring is quite simple and easily converted to another application or rewired... eliminating some of the lockout and safety stuff goes with it most the time

just a thought.

I don't think anyone has tried a Raptor ECU.
but I am thinking about it......

It would be lovely if it just plugged in and went !

I do know that on the 3 DIFFERENT ECU's there are different numbers of wires on the ECU plug tho...hmmmmm.....

i think there is a possibility running a Rapidbike ???

i think i have an extra 700 ECU and harness )for connectors) i could send if anyone wants to invest the time..
i have the schematics as well

looking at the xt660 motor for the first time i find many components very similar to both the raptor 660 (carb bike 5 v) and the 700 efi 4 v, seem to be a mix of both ....

how does the xt660 handle higher RPM??? any Vibration in the engine?

we are currently converting a Raptor 660 bottom end to use the 700 Top end very much the same as the XT combination

richardsracingmad 07-09-10 14:12

as far as vibration goes....a really smooth bike.

The ECU/Wiring looms are not really interchangeable on the LATER models, and are not really the best ECU'S either.......

I would be happy to try the Raptor stuff DL700.....

i will send the ecu with the cam and other parts...
the plug/connector is the same as ive seen pictured on the ECU thread 08 model

What's your generator set up? May be worth looking at ours..
If you pay !0 by Paypal, you join our Supporters Club, where you can access the Parts Manual !! I have found it very useful.

A guy in Greece has recently tried a mix of Rappy/XT internals, I think he needs a clutch basket made. But he fitted a Raptor Crank ( !!!!!yes!!!) with a Rap Stator, .

The 700 rap crank looks similar , but has a longer shaft.( search for Shoemrich post)

Yes, you are right...similar engines...the barrel is slightly different size tho on our XT660 to your 700 rap...if you put two gaskets together, you will see.....but it can be modified..see "700 conversion"...the one done by Kev.

thanks ive been reading that thread,, great info!!

richardsracingmad 07-09-10 14:34

k DL700, you have an email that you need to pass on .....

I would love a Raptor 660 and 700 parts list, so we could put it in our Supporters club.

Any ideas?

what do u mean? OEM? or aftermarket
http://www.partforyamaha.com/pages/p.../2/Yamaha.aspx

the fiche is available everywhere for us models

richardsracingmad 07-09-10 15:51

That's the kiddie.....OEM..I think I'll move this so people can find it...

Steve_athens 07-09-10 22:52

my xt works @9000 rpm just fine with racing ecu now im waiting for my final raptor engine parts for the full party to begin:066:

Kev 07-09-10 23:41

In 2008 when I did my Raptor conversion I did look into the difference between the XT660 & Raptor wiring looms & ECU's it can be done very easily.

I could not find ant cheap ECU'S & looms so never carried out the conversion.

I did replace my whole wiring loom & ECU to remove my O2 sensor & used an earlier ECU with no O2 sensor, to gain full control of the fueling.

this was the info i was looking for,, what was the cost of that ECU?

i read the conversion, NICE WORK!....
What is your current rpm limit?

having the additional rpm will open up a whole new world for these bikes as the head is a great starting piece and the motors will make peak power up to 8k easily if opened up with the right parts

richardsracingmad 08-09-10 06:11

7200 is all we can get lol

Steve_athens 08-09-10 12:01

the ecu is expensive and someone very experienced with dyno is needed to setup the ecu but you have a fully adjustable ecu which controls fuel, advance, air pressure you can even control in which temperature cooling starts absolutely every electric stuff on the bike and the most important you can set the rpm limit wherever you like

richardsracingmad 08-09-10 12:16

Does a fully adjustable replacement Ecu plug straight in to our XT660, and what needs doing to make it work correctly? Do we need any additional wiring?

What is the replacement ECU for? Can you post a link to the item?

Steve_athens 08-09-10 12:31

when you order the ecu you tell on which bike you will plug it and they send you the proper wire(for Xt660 or raptor any any other injection bike) and you plug it straight away by removing the stock ecu and connencting the new one,and also you have to unplug the immobiliser wire under the fuel tank to work properly on xt660.The map is 3d you have to set all air-fuel-advance-ignition to work properly,i think there was a topic with the links

richardsracingmad 08-09-10 12:34

ok...can you find the links Steve.....very useful information for me...thank you.

richardsracingmad 08-09-10 12:47

Is it a Dynatek ignition for a Raptor 700?

vtr_tommi 08-09-10 22:32

http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/m...uirt-c-35.html

Allmost plug an play... 3D ignition and fuel maps and a lot more

Not really that expensive and you get full control over fuel&ignition systems and there is quite good documentation available for megasquirt
...this is what i would use

dazmatic 08-09-10 22:50

heh... thats just a -little- bit complicated for me...
