thanks for that jenny, for the time being i'm just going to follow your lead. after seeing the cost i think my blue peter skill will be called on again for fabricating more bits

btw. 640 rally wheels, forks, sx triples and nitron shock fitted and tested. just over a week since a donor ex dakar 99' ktm rally was delivered last wednesday for me to use as spares. the lathe at work has hardly cooled down yet!

good luck with the sale of your tenere i never checked have you put it on the heroes forum? for sale, as a new enduro bike now costs more than your bespoke proven machine!

I actually still have the old fairing from my 650R... hmmmm, maybe I should make a mould?

Nice one! - excellent you've been able to make the KTM rear hub/wheel fit - with spacers, presumably?

That's a bloody good idea - I forgot about that forum!

Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your finished prep - Tenere's rock, and you know it!

Hee hee - if someone wants to pay my entry fee, then I would enter The Dakar on the Tenere, as I do believe it is more than capable now (whether I can manage on such a big bike is more the question!)... however, my sensible head means I've entered on the baby-brother WR...

Hi Val' No, I sold mine a while ago - although I imagine Bernard (Stoic) has his, although he may want to keep them?

Of course you could always cut out a lot of work, and just buy my whole bike?!:

Im putting my Tenere back to stock and not going to Rally it no more.
I had a ride on a Husaberg Fe570 and reckon this could be my one stop race bike: Rally, Enduro, H&H, & Motard gonna aim to do most of the UK Rallys next year. The bike is so user freindly, even in tight woods. How come your selling the Tenere??
Cheers
Gary

Hi Gary - I hear good things about the Husabergs, and likewise the Husqvana's... obviously more race orientated machines, but ought to be strong for the use/s you have in mind, and noticeably lighter for sure!

I'm selling the Tenere because I need the money basically... as you are probably aware, this season I bought a WR450 as my new racebike, and having entered the Dakar this coming January (eek!), have just bought a second WR for a full set of spares...

As you might imagine, the costs for Dakar are crippling (think Heroes-Legend x2), and with the purchase of a second bike, I am on the floor financially...

That is not to ay I'm taking stupid offers on the Ten' - I spent a lot of money and time on that machine, and I'll be very sad to see it go... but there is no other way I can get a significant chunk of cash together quickly...

Offers over 5500 please.

Now that really makes my eyes water. 5500 for that bike with all that kit on it that I saw you doing before you went off is a bloody steal. You can only shudder to imagine how much I paid for my standard stock Ten here in Norway. A good starting point would be double that amount. If I was living in the UK or I didn't have to pay import tax, that bike would be in my garage by now!
Best of luck with the next adventure, I will be following with interest, and that WR450 looks great, I have been wanting one of those for a while as well. You are basically just doing all my bike dreams for me!

Hi Tom - thanks for your kind words of support and encouragement - yes, it was a lot of fun building and racing the Tenere - never mind all the time in the US I enjoyed on it beforehand...

A number of people have said I'd be crazy to sell it/that I'd regret it etc. and to be fair, there is nothing I'd want to replace it with out there at the moment, so I'd probably end up buying another for more money that I got for mine - duh!

I also have a couple of plans for next year, that the Tenere would be ideal for, so for the moment I'm going to hang onto the old girl, and perhaps do a couple of rounds of the Big Bike Rally Challenge in the UK next season, and I have half an eye on a desert rally too...

In the meantime, anyone who's interested in following my progress on the Dakar this year, please check out my dedicated website:

Good idea - hang onto it Jen, as you will only regret selling it later. It is an original one of a kind at the moment as well!
Best of luck with the plans for the 2011 season. It really seems like you are going to be busy, and I am looking forward to following your progress on your website. It might even motivate me a bit more to get my arse out of Norway this year and head south. I missed out on a trip this year due to circumstance, but I feel the excuses are short for next year, so fingers crossed, and time to start convincing the wife!
