Just bought a new tenere, just wanted to know can you fit a 140 on the back? Ps any tenere owners in Sussex that know of any good green lanes apart from friston? Many thanks. Mattskinner79@hotmail.com |

Send me a pm if you find anything.... |

Many thanks. |
Hi Richard I think the best route for us is Salisbury plane
I have been on a few websites and there is nothing longer than about 3 miles witch is ten second on the bike, but if I find something good I will give you a shout. Matt Skinner |
ok...did you see that recent thread on Salisbury? looks nice n easy...and very long! I'm up for that......need a route map....
|
Route map!! I like your style.Did not see the thread on Salisbury but will look out for it there is only one question do we need nobblies for the place the last time I was in Salisbury the vehicles had tracks.
|
don't know about knobblies...i'm not ......when are we going then? shall we try for two more and start a thread for a ride out?
As for the previous thread to refer...its under Meetings, Ride outs etc....A Very Dry Dusty Salisbury....i have an XTR with standard road tyres... |
Why not let's do it who needs knobblies, but at the same time it does have to be fairly soon due to weather. I lived at the back of the plane for two year, and if there's been a lot of rain the only roads you can use are the main tracks.
That's why the army love the place summer dust bowl winter mud hole. Is late September any good? |
Hello Guys
Brighton area I know few not meny round Alfriston - towards Horam What about round Leith Hill? not many again but there are some :Knitting_22PFUP: Salisbury Plain is about a hour away but it is a good ride :whipit: Knobblies i am running Mitas 09 but at the moment you will be fine with road tyres is not so wet :tongue4: |
Leith Hill/ Abinger is Knobblies, and is 5 minutes away. But limited trails.
Salisbury looks an easier trail, and it looks like I could get away with my road tyres at the moment, but the end of September it may be alot more difficult. |
The longest one I'm aware of in Sussex is the Old Coach Road which is in four sections: Jevington to Folkington, Folkington to Wilmington, Berwick to West Firle and Firle to Beddingham.
In Jevington head west on the appropriately named Green Lane which starts opposite the old Post Office. After 200m or so fork right and follow your nose. This leads you to the second section from Folkington to Wilmington which can be 'challenging' when wet. You come out opposite the church in Wilmington. There's a short section that leads down to the Sussex Ox, then once you've crossed the Cuckmere turn right towards the A27, then left following signs for Comp Barn. This is initially a gravel drive, then turns into a green lane that passes behind Berwick, BoPeep Lane, Charleston Farmhouse and comes out at West Firle. For the final section you ride south towards Firle Bostal then take a farm track on the right, keeping going straight on as you pass the farm on the left, and you come out on the A26. There's some other short ones as well, like Robin Post Lane, map below. Tim |
Thanks Tim..
I have been out of the loop on trail riding, but it seems in 2006 alot of the RUPPS were de-classified, reducing the number of places to go, or shortening/ breaking up the trail. I would like to do a very easy one on my road tyres. Any suggestions? Salisbury looks favourite at the moment... |
I am up for a bit of Alfriston it's only ten minutes away from the Heath.
Matt |
is it a solid base...or clay? if solid pm me for a ride Sunday???
|
Well I did a little recce about 2weeks ago at Alfriston and the surrounding ares and it's a bit of everything there is clay, chalk, grass, and gravel and with the rain the roads tires are going to be alot of fun.
But also a good chance of getting stuck " not fun with a 200k bike". I really need to get a set of knobblies |
