Stridey 11-07-10 19:31

A GREAT weekend in the Lakes!
Great company and great location witrh superb scenery and rideouts.

Thanks Darren for all your hard work.
Nice to put faces to names.

Specially StevieD, Stumpy Dave, Crusty...., Bear, Monotacio(hope you got back oK?), Graham(sorry I left you on the M6 southbound but just steamed on!), Uberthumper, Triple Tom, SelinaXT plus anyone else I met but can't at this time remember their names.

It took me about 6 hours to get home to Zummerset(1 hour stop for food/coffee)

I look forward to seeing all the pictures/video.

thanks
Mark :eusa_dance:

uberthumper 11-07-10 19:44

Got home about 2-3pm after a nice run back - well, riding over Shap Fell on the A6 in gale-driven rain wearing an off-road lid and goggles wasn't so much fun. After that though I managed to wind my way back to Derbyshire on mostly tiny roads, apart from the bit from Keighley to Huddersfield, which there didn't seem to be a practical way of avoiding.

Oh, and it's nice and sunny down here. Who's bright idea, etc. :D

Cheers Darren for organising and everyone else for the laughs.

4. This weekend has given me great hope for the youth of today, really a fantastic pleasure to meet Hazza2805, wanting to learn, up for fun and Selina wants to adopt you :)

THINK SHE MAY HAVE A FIGHT ON HER HANDS, STEVED HASNT DONE ALL THAT GROOMING FOR NOWT!!!!!!

tripletom 11-07-10 22:20

Nice to meet some new faces, and catch up with some old. I got back home a little before 10pm on the friday night. Not the weekend I had planned but if I catch up with you all again I can bore you about the poor state of my internals.
Darren, cheers for organising it, I enjoyed the two trails I did. Dave, cheers for the ride buddy up.
Catch you again soon hopefully.

steveD 11-07-10 23:56

Got back safe and sound. A great weekend despite the weather. The Crusty/Dalby Gheeto worked well and was used a lot. Darren you are a peeing Tom!:064:
Really great to put faces to names and despite all the mickey taking I will be back for more.:booty:

A BIG up for the :660: crowd.

theclowncrusty 12-07-10 00:11

More of the above, great weekend dispite the sh$t weather. I can only imagine that what Darren saw in Steve`s tent was meant for Harrys eyes only. Apparently i am fully trained up on the camping, trail riding front so Steve has moved onto fresh pastures.... Harry BEWARE!!!! Let the grooming begin.
Onanist, blue ballons and a small LED in them mate.....LOL
Crusty

hazza2805 12-07-10 00:59

As everyone has said, it was a fantastic weekend, and the weather made it that bit more special! Thanks to eveyone for making it what it was, and a massive thanks to Darren to organising it all.....top bloke!

This one is part of mine and Smoggs' journey home on the M6:
http://www.theoutsourcingcompany.com...congestion.jpg

I racked up about 850 miles over the weekend from leaving home and returning, how did you all do?

Thanks to motonacio and uberthumper for helping with my chain.

Thanks to steveD, who put up with lots of ****, but is a really nice, friendly, and helpful guy who took me under his wing and taught me lots! I didn't know how lumpwood charcoal was made before this weekend, I do now! He also taught me things about other types of wood, although he said that's to stay our little secret!
bigwinkbigwink

JOKING OF COURSE, THE RUMOURS ARE NOT TRUE!

"4. This weekend has given me great hope for the youth of today, really a fantastic pleasure to meet Hazza2805, wanting to learn, up for fun and Selina wants to adopt you :)" Pleasure to meet you too, I had a great laugh! If Selina adopts me how much pocket money will I get? Or petrol money shall I say? Perhaps I could just use here own tricks against her, and siphon fuel out of her x into mine? :tongue5:

I hope I am free for next year's meet, that is if you will all have me back!?!

Cheers guys....and girl!

Harry

Onanist 12-07-10 08:17

Nothing better than laughing your head off over breakfast, a truly apt sum up of the weekend Hazza

As for " next year", this one aint over yet, we've done the rain, we more than likely will have the frost in Dent at the end of the year. Plus Selina is going to scout out some more trails in Derbyshire so prob a Wetton do is on the cards.

tenere doug 12-07-10 09:35

Apologies to all for me not making the full weekend, but I did enjoy the Friday trails, and I'm sure I gave Darren a shock when he "found me" on the second one!
I don't know what Steve D was doing in that tent, but I bet it wasn't pretty... some things are best left alone!

1nips 12-07-10 09:40

Big respect Darren for a great weekend, really well put together (a bit like the Ten) - unlike myself. Fantastic to finally meet up with you retrobates, was made to feel really welcome and have a rough idea of who's who now.
Thanks Stridey for mauling me and bike out of the hole !! Does practice make perfect or just pain ?
Trust all made home, looking forward to next meet, where ever it be.

:wrongforum:

Some things are best left alone........ I'm booked in three self help groups and some BUPA Therapy later in the week.

:incon_aargh[1]:

I've been convincing myself that it was my own fault for pitching opposite Steve, but then I remembered I WAS THERE FIRST!

The simple opperation of closing the door would have helped!

motonacio 12-07-10 10:57

Thoroughly enjoyed - well organised, well attended, well wet both on the road/trails and in the Old Speckled Hen house! (the Merlot was palatable as well - washed the steak and guiness pie down a treat).

Everybody there deserves a special mention from GULGO's organisation skills through steveD's erudite expositions on anything under the sun (in-between getting bofs like me out of bother) to Selina for providing the glamour and a good helping of humour (not to mention the coffees I cadged) young Harry keeping us all on our toes with non-stop questions and stalwarts stumpydave and clowncrusty like genial bouncers looking after the rest of us. Aged memory forbids me from mentioning all the memorable impressions I have from this weekend - I am beginning to realise that memorable experiences are in the past and the best ones are still to come - HOW can it get better?

A few piccies in the gallery.

Bear 12-07-10 11:33

Forgot to say I did 652 miles from my front door and back again would have been 600 if me and KeithBlade could read a map and sat nav :rofl[1]: but hey Scotlands quite nice :rofl[1]:
Are we getting a "Lakes 10 Survivor" ?? I think we earned it lol

Darren - for his organising skills, hard work and dedication.
SteveD - for an enjoyable ride there and back and his usual plethora of equipment.
The Clown Crusty - for his very funny stories, many of which involve SteveD and unfinished cans of calor gas!!!
Simon - for not cooking kippers!
Selina and Onanist - for the laughs!
The Bear - for an interesting tour of the North of England and an impromptu Iron Butt certificate. I told him it was left not right at that junction!
I was,nt the only one to turn the wrong way though was I :smilies0225:
Motonacio - for an enjoyable conversation on Saturday night.
Hazza - for making me feel old but for reminding me that the youth of today will keep the spirit of biking alive for generations to come.
The weather - for keeping the power rangers at bay!
The pub - for their hospitality, great ale (and wine) and good wholesome grub.

Everybody who was there for adding to a wonderful weekend.

When's the next?:026:

Two turns, that was it. end of the road turn left, then after 20 miles turn left <road number given> if you reach a roundabout, you've gone too far. - It realy doesn't get much more simple than that... :icon_eek:

So, they got to the end of the road and turned right...... then did a U-turn.... turned left at the roundabout (the one that was the refference point to say they had gone too far!) and rode to the motorway!!!!

---

It certainly was a surreal weekend.....

1) Getting to the end of the first lane, to find Skunkmoto waiting for us! then waiting 10 minutes (me Skunk & UberT) while the rest of the guys rubbed mud into thier jackets to make it look like they were all hardcore farmers!

2) Riding down a lane, a lane that isn't well used at all, and coming over a Tenere is Racing Gold, yes , it was Tenere Doug !! and I thought he was coming up on Saturday!!

3) Riding alone some remote road over a lesser known Lakeland pass, to discover two XT's coming the other way, one of them dressed up like a TDM !

4) Stopping in Pooley Bridge, only to see a blue Super Tenere parked up, off course I stopped and said "Hiya Ray", it was a long shot , but I was right, there in the flesh was OldGitRay...........

5) some bloke turned up on a bike that we couldn't quite place....

http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Lake...KiethsBike.jpg

and then there was Steve ass.......... :moon:

Selina's mothering instinct :hug[1]:

but the suprise of the weekend, Bear didn't upset the staff!

:bravo:

CaptMoto 12-07-10 15:39

This is the final one...

Smoggs 12-07-10 15:49

A cracking weekend! Thanks to everyone for making it so enjoyable and especially to Darren for the organisation.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trails on Friday despite me dropping the bike on both sides in the same spot whilst stationary! Just off to see if there's a Tenere stabiliser mod in the tech section!

I'm enjoying this bike more and more and it's encouraging to see what this bike is capable of in the right hands once the tarmac has run out.

Looking forward to the next meet.

Simon

I came across this and thought I'd link it here to show everyone what we should have seen on saturday

Isnt the scenery nice when its not cloudy?

maxwell123455 12-07-10 23:05

Finally got back home after 654miles of travelling, some with just one wheel on the ground and some with none!!!! Also near got the panniers down again but this time fully loaded:110:

A big thanks to Darren for the organising of this cracker weekend and placing up of the routes for us GPS users.

Also a big thanks to anyone who left food behind on the Sunday (apart from i think Simon who left me 2 kippers which even though in a plastic sealed bag still stunk the campsite out!!! or was that my feet!). Mark (aka markymark) or the guy who parked his bike in his tent. We had a lovely BBQ with the burgers, sausages, buns etc that all left in beautiful sunshine. Yes you read right Sunday and Monday was cracker weather and i finally got all my gear dryed out.

Thanks to everyone who turned up and meet some cracker people/charactors although hearing about Steved's flashing and grooming made me a little weary?????

Piccies to come soon from my semi broken camera!!!

A cracker two photos anyway. Pitty you couldnt stay due to unforseen stomach problems. Theres always next years trip or steved did mention something about organising a trip to a placed called "dent" in november or so.

Old Git Ray 17-07-10 00:38

Sorry to the Lakelands 2010 crew

Guys,

How gobsmacked was I when driving through Pooley Bridge and saw a troop (as in monkeys) of Teneres passing by. In an unprovoked act of blatant and shamefull showing off I decided to squeeze my 110 horsepower, un-run in S10 past most of them (one of which was on one wheel) and into the camp site. I then turned around and joined the troop to say hello only to be confronted with "Hiya Ray" from GULGo.

I promised to pop in and see you rabble on Saturday evening but with the "perfect storm" film set descending on PB and 3 large tents to erect, not to mention 8 completely inept off-spring to pander to, I just ran out of time and when I eventually did get there on Sunday the place was empty :icon_sad:.

Still, although brief, it was good to meet you all, I even recognised Motonacio (yes I know, it's difficult not too.) and I wanted to let you lot have a go of the S10 to see how superior it is to the baby ten....:002:

Sorry........Maybe next time....

Ray

You can do it in Google Earth.

Here is a thread I published last year to convert Google Earth routes to a Garmin GPS but some stuff in it should help.
It realy depends what you want to do with it.

http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=9187

You could just draw a route ("Add Path" icon) in GE and then hit the "Prt Sc" key and then "paste" the picture into a convenient program for saving to Photobucket (or whatever you use) for publishing.

Sorry Ray the [sarcasm] ... [/sarcasm] tags didn't work very well. It was just a ploy to introduce my 'cloudy badge'.

GULGo provided a splendid marked OS to the participants which even I as a non-MicroSoft Windows user and non-Garmin owner could follow.

(btw mebbe my Ubuntu Firefox is not working but I can't find the link in your post - see - I can even get lost on a web page!!)
