mine does that still after 25k km.. I've never bothered to clean the plastic recesses :p

Also, it's not actually the oil, it's due to the mixture of the engine, and I suspect is linked to the AIS. On a carb'd bike a heavy black soot would indicate a rich mixture, on the Ten with it's air injection I suspect that as the mixture ignites on a closed throttle (the popping and banging) you get the increase in soot production. As the Ten has the silver surrounds, it simply shows up more.
