Panniers fitted..... at last!

Ok so some of you may remember me buying some Allitt panniers (or bread bins as the wife has nicknamed them!) last year. Well I finally managed to get a set of rails and have fitted them.
The panniers set me back 200 and I managed to get a set of H&B rails off fleabay for the princely sum of 100.... brand new!
So I got fitting sizing up and positioning carefully. This is how they turned out...

However.... whilst fitting the first one I came up with a little problem. The top fitting bar on the H&B rails gets in the way of the pannier lid..... the first one I fitted only opened an inch! Doh!!!! So repositioned they open more than enough...

But one pannier now has some added ventilation! Anyone know where to get some rubber plugs?!!

For 300 I'm pretty happy with what I've got. The top bar on the rails could be adjusted to allow the lids to open up to 90 degrees, but I'll see how it affects using them first. The rails are the quick release one's, which works well. I've been for a shake down test through London and managed to only collapse one central reservation bollard, so I should be fine with them!

Looks sweet mate.

As for the holes not sure on rubber bungs but a good bit of sealant would do the job.

Thanks Maxwell, a mate thinks he can get me some plugs, so I'll see what he comes up with, otherwise it will have to be something like sealant.... or a small patch.

I recommend having side opening panniers - like the yam ones..... I never realised till after I'd ordered them, otherwise that is what I'd have specified!

Nice job fella, maybe slap some duct tape over the holes for now? Both sides.

plug them with some 'metal putty', then put the ducktape on - unless you know a friendly welder, who can fill them ?
