squeeking noise wheel

when I move the bike by hand I hear a squeeking noise,

almost like something rubs against eachother
when I put the bike on the center stand and turn the wheel you clearly hear it's coming from near the center of the wheel

don't think it's gonna be the disc cause that might sound a little bit different

could this be the wheel bearing ?

I always clean the bike with a pressure cleaner , and never paid any attention to it , close , from far , I just make it clean :)

could the be that my bearings is damaged due to water pressure , or is the sound coming from somewhere else

or better anybody's ten making the same noise? :)

Probably just the poxy cush drive rubbers telling you that they are on the way out. Mines as sloppy as anything and i've only covered 5500miles-I'm gonna see if I can get a set under warranty before I do the packing out with rubber mod.Anyone else experiencing the same??

and is there a risk driving around like this ?
thing I have it also on the front wheel , better take the bike to the shop over the weekend

If you take the rear wheel out, you can check by spinning the centre of the bearing and feeling for any roughness. You should (if the bearing is good) feel a gentle smoothness like caressing a buttock. If the bearing is on the way out, you will feel notches like running your fingers across gravel.

could also be the brake disk scraping on the pads.. it could also be the chain..
best bet is to take the wheel out as tripletom suggested.. if it's not that.. it's brakes or chain

If both wheels are squeaking , and you've been using a jetwash, then you've probably blasted all the grease out of the wheelbearings, and replaced it with water.

How many km's has your bike got? My chain also makes a squeeky noise after 20000km.

almost 10.000 now , so will having the first big service soon ...

now the wheels are not making noise anymore (WD40 :) )

now it's the rear shock or place where the rear part is fit to the frame who's squeeking like hell, probably no grease anymore in between, gonna check that out

My bike is approaching the 10,000 mile mark and has exactly the same squeaky noise but front wheel only. WD40 then!

Peatbog 05-09-10 09:56

if it is the wheel bearings, then WD40 could help to find the problem, but dont rely on it to fix the problem. wWD40 will only dry the bearings out more and allow them to disintegrate quietly. Get them regreased/replaced!

there`s an active thread on XT-660.de regarding this problem.
It seems, that Z - swingarms left factory without any grease.

The chances are youve washed all the lube from the bearings, thats why it stopped with some wd40, you should remove um n pack um with some grease .
and from now on when you jet wash your bike avoid wheel hubs, shock linkages and the headstock and not to mention the electrics.
