Immobiliser Light Staying On

Washed the bike Sunday an gave it good squirt of ACF50, went out yesterday morning and the immobiliser light was constantly on. Rode to work and it stayed on after switching off. At lunchtime I thought I'd try disconecting the battery to see if that would reset it, when I went out the light was flashing normally so I left it. When I went to ride home the light was on but pulsating. Whilst I rode home the light was flickering on and off and varying in brightness finally going off and staying off about a mile from home. When I turned the bike off the light started pulsating again. I disconected and reconected the battery but the light again acted erratically. I fired the bike up and the light came on for a couple of seconds flickered, and then went off. When I left the bike it was flashing away normally. I don't know if I'm getting any error codes as the light has has stayed on when the ignition is turned on and the bike runs perfetcly ok if the light is on or off. If the light is on this morning I will try using the red key. I can't see how it can be a key issue as the fault is occuring when the key is not near the sensor.

The bike's an 09 XTZ any ideas before I start bothering the dealer?

I know there have been issues with water ingress in the wiring connecter plugs, seeing as this problem started after you washed the bike thats where I'd start my investigations.

yep, spray the connectors with WD40 to disperse the water

Had this problem with my xtr ,water getting in behind rubber boot on the rear of the clocks ,use a small amount of wd40 but dont go overboard with it.

Well this morning the light was flashing normaly, started ok and the light went off. It flashed a couple of a times but since on the wy to work but then it has been normal. I reckon you could be right with the water ingress suggestion so I'll make sure I take it easy with the rinse cycle from now on.
