Had an hour on the bike with the stage 1 filter and snorkel replaced with the DNA cover, running a PCV map supplied by SimonC, all results taken on my seat of the pants dynomometer.
Instead of going wwwwuuuuurRRRRRGGGHHH<gear> now goes bbAAARP<gear>. Think Korma to Roghan Josh. I've always thought the power delivery was fairly linear before and would build, build, build in a slow/lazy/predictable way and you can still chug along below 4000 power is much the same as before. Above this and the bike revs faster and there's a noticeable step at 4500ish, nowt two stroke explosive, but a definite kick that continues and surges you forward till ya run out of revs, keep it in the power above 5000 and you soon run out of gears, kept looking for sixth but there just isn't another cog in there. I've done pipes and carb rejets (ten is my first FI bike) on thumpers before, but this is by far the biggest difference I've seen and was quite surprised at the difference it made. Not the full vindaloo but the bike has livened up. You could easily run higher gearing, up a tooth on the front and still get the pep with a bit longer legs. Off road provieded you have the traction it probably help lighten the front end There is more vibes at 4-5000, anyone else noticed this? Maybe the map needs tweaking though not sure if this would make any difference. Can't say what its done to the fuel consumption till I get more miles done. Thumbs up so far, recommended. |
Glad you like the results. I thought you got a stage 3 side filter.
I think every XT660 should go like this from the factory, it would be very easy for them to do it. |

Kev would the vibes be improved by tweaking the map to suit my bike?? |
