Barkbuster Hand Guards have arrived!

Just received a parcel from DHL at work and its my Barkbuster handguards from Adventure Spec.

First impressions:

Very impressive, much better quality than the touratech guards, these have a steel bar running through them. They are also much much much heavier than the touratech ones, the bar ends are a lot more substantial than touratech too. Will fit them tonight and report back tomorrrow. But first impressions for 85 delivered are very good. Good quick delivery and advice from Chris at Adventure Spec too

PS and instructions are in English (not german!)

Got a set on my Ten - love them. Great protection when you drop it out in the rough

Let us know how they fit.
From the pics it looks like they might hit the screen when turning the bar.
(That's why I haven't ordered them yet)

I fitted the barkbusters last night, unbelievably quick to install.

All fitted together nicely, very solid construction and the supplied bar ends are very ample in weight. Installation was very easy, with good clear instructions in English.

Also worth noting, they come supplied with variable height wind deflectors, you have two positions to screw these to the handguards and I opted for the highest position to gain the most wind deflection. There was no drilling required (as with touratech deflectors), the handguards look good, they have the Barkbusters logo/name moulded in to the plastic in white lettering and all in all I'm very impressed with them. The proof of the pudding was in the test ride as many will know I had very bad vibes with the Touratech guards at 40mph.

This morning I rode to work as normal and I felt no vibrations at all, great news! It was ideal conditions to test the wind deflectors being one of the windiest days this year and by the time I got to work my usually numb cold fingers were fine and dandy.

Good work Barkbusters, incidentally I emailed barkbusters direct before I purchased them and the guy in Australia emailed me back answering my concerns within 12 hours, Touratech are just 30 miles away from me and take 5 days to reply to emails!

I've got a few snaps but these were taken on my phone in a messy garage, I'll get some better snaps when I've cleaned my baby on the weekend!

All good info. Am in the process of deciding which handguards and these were high on my list. Was there any hassle with the guards bumping the screen?

Was there a 'model' number for the guards you got?

Cheers

Pleased to hear they went on ok bexman. Are they only available in black or silver do you know? I've been looking at the Moose racing ones to replace my ragged Venoms.

Try saying that out of context in a pub and see the looks you would get!:happy8:

Congratulations. I have the KTM ones and like them but those Barkbusters look fantastic. I may even change mine to them at a later date.

Pics are here, not the best of photos but will take better ones on weekend.

They fit well but do touch screen on full lock.

They do touch the screen but only on full lock, you can still easily use the steering lock when parking the bike so not restrictive in my opinion.

I ordered the guards from here: http://www.adventure-spec.com/shop/b.../prod_197.html

I believe only black or silver but I have been speaking with a guy called Matthew Phillpott who is the MD of Rideworx who make barkbusters so you could always drop him an email or alternatively ask the guys at Adventure Spec.

colour variations

the barkbusters only come in black for the tenere, but replacement plastics are available. We tried to get these in stock but at the time the UK distributors didnt have any and i dont think they have yet. blue/white, white/black and yellow/black (main shield/extension) was what we were after which seemed appropriate for the tenere. they are an optional extra though and i doubt there will ever be colour options available as standard.

Check out http://www.barkbusters.net/products/126.html really good fit and they are one of the most helpfull companies I have come across. They look good on the Ten - the wind protection is excellent - no cutting/drilling just straight on no problem. Nothing touches anywhere - superb! Steve Rix is their export sales guy and really helpful

Just had my Barkbusters delivered today from Adventure-Spec. Quick delivery and look as good as any Acerbis I've used in the past with the Ally bar. Fitting kit with bar ends and spoilers are a nice touch and make them better value than others in my opinion.

Hand Guards & Levers

I bought the Touratec guards and eventually got them fitted. Yes they do hit the screen so I bought a Puig screen and cut it down no probs. Whilst the Touratec guards do offer good wind protection they do not protect the levers if you drop it. I now have Acerbis Rally Pro guards fitted to higher Renthal bars BUT the brake and clutch levers snag on the inside of the guard. Does anyone know where you can get shorty levers....Help
