You can just make out in the 4th picture that the LED is housed in a pod, either the LED is rated for a 12V circuit or the pod contains the necessary resistor to run the LED from a 12V circuit.

I wired directly into the side light circuit so they would come on with the ignition. You shouldn't have any problem wiring directly into the headlight circuit either, they would only come on when the engine was running. They pull something negligible like 0.25A so your not going to overload a light circuit by adding a couple.
