cutting the rear fender down

I have seen a few with this done now and this it makes the rear look so much better. Has anyone got any pics of when they did it, what brackets where made etc. I want to keep legal, so will still use my standard plate and number plate light ......

thanks

I dont like the looks, most of the time the blinkers look odd.

Why?

Nelis 24-10-09 09:11

Because you can't glue it back.

I agree with you, that is why I moved mine same indicators but just moved them up very easy mod. The number plate is only very slightly smaller by about 1 inch or less, if you use the same number plate then it will cover the reflector, I also moved the number plate light up and under were the bike rack would go, again dead easy

If you move the reflector to the middle of the rear lights or get a small round one you could fit it were the Yamaha logo is on the back and move your indicators then the standard number plate will fit (I have just held my number plate up and it will fit no problem) My number plate is an inch smaller height and width.

Here it is fitted with normal number plate, you will have to move your indicators and refit reflector and move number plate light (second photo shows were to fit number plate light. same one)

No Problem, anytime, I have just finished fitting LEDs H3 to my fog lights

beany 24-10-09 22:50

just done same as uncle ricky. standard size number plate, number plate light moved up to under the tail light not above, used the original number plate bracket left the indicators where they are fitted, and cut below the reflector. you cant see the reflector but a small round one on the yamaha logo.

cdo1uk 25-10-09 19:31

not a good picture but i did this today.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...k/P1010567.jpg

I took the light assembly off the bike and used a dremmel to cut away the bottom, just under the reflector. then drilled and fitted the OEM number plate light kist under the lights. mounted the number plate just under that, and put it all back on. Easy.... left the indicators in the OEM place too. looks much better.

thanks for your help guys.

I put the standard reflector between the rear lights then got an after market plate light. The numberplate light was fiddly to fit as the threads at the back are the same width as the channeled recess, it took a bit of time to fit it. The only mod after this which isnt in the photo was a piece of plastic coming out from below the number plate sticking out about 4 inches, this stops the spray from the back wheel soaking your back.

uncle ricky 25-10-09 21:00

That is were I was going to move the reflector, did you just cut the bolts off and glue it on ? :walk:

I used the reflector and bolts as supplied by Yamaha, once fitted just cut off the excess thread with a dremmel. The lights sit back in the original position even though the reflector nuts are there.

Thanks, I think I will just cut the bolts off and glue it on with Poxy Resin glue, or may just a small round one and fit over the yamaha logo
