XT 660 X Crash Bungs

Just bought my XT and was looking at getting some crash bungs for it. I see R&G do a few sets, are there any other decent makes about?
cheers

Very late reply

These people do very good priced fork and swingarm bungs. Not used them myself but I'm sure someone here has. I found them following a post here and they are on my wishlist.

I've just had a set of these delivered and I can't fit them!

They come with a standard length of studding for fitting (~8mm inc thread) and this wont fit through the hollow wheel spindle. It fits from one side and goes almost all the way through but the hole on the other side of the spindle is narrower. Just a little too narrow.

This on both wheels. I'm a little bemused as to why the hollow spindle isn't the same diameter the whole way through. Has anyone else encountered a problem like this when fitting bungs?

How did you get round it, thinner threaded bar, how thin? Is it possible to widen the hole on the spindle by 1mm or so without weakening it?

Any help appreciated.

I got the R&G Bungs they fit fine and were quite cheep the bolts are narrower at one end than the other
Try phoning the company that make them to see if they supplyed the correct bolts

Cheers Paul

They supplied a couple of length of 8mm threaded bar for fitting. I've just been out with a selection of bolts and the 8mm wont fit but the 6mm easily fits. It's probably quicker to get some 6mm bar from B&Q on the way home tomorrow. I can pack out the space in the wider front spindle by putting 8mm nuts inside the spindle and threading the bar through them so that the bar doesn't shift inside the spindle.

Cheers for the feedback.

I'll send an email to the suppliers to let them know the 8mm isn't suitable for the XTX.
