Keep a cool head...

Thought you might like to see some aluminium porn...

The stock Tenere radiator (made by KTM dontcha know) is fine for most conditions, however, I found that in tricky technical terrain at clutch slipping slow speeds, and at higher altitude, the bike could start to boil over...

Bearing in mind what I'm going to subject mine to in the next month or so, I thought it might be a good idea to get more cooling capacity, and Dave at GMX Radiators certainly came up with the goods!

As you can see, it is beautifully made, and is 20mm thicker than standard (so 45mm thick overall) - it also has some lovely touches such as dedicated tabs for mounting the lower faring panels, plus proper tabs for holding the fan, rather than the bolt through design of the standard radiator.

The radiator cap is the Japanese size (rather than Euro/KTM type) which gives a wider range of alternatives should you wish to run a higher pressure cap.

He is also in the process of cutting me a dedicated stone guard, although it is quite possible one of the aftermarket ones will also fit with a jiggle or two - the only modifications needed to the bike are to slightly trim the black plastic shrouds that hang from the front of the tank, as the radiator is thicker (see second pic).

Anyway, if you like what you see, and think you might be working your Tenere a bit harder than usual, give Dave at GMX a call... you won't be disappointed!

That's a lovely piece of engineering - I shudder to think of the cost !! :grommit:

Are you leaving your horn where it is? you know you can turn it around 90 degrees and mount it to the same bolts as the expansion tank. Then it sits behind the regulator out of harms way!

Aha, that is a good plan - I'll have a look at that... although perhaps it is the horn that is protecting the regulator from all the crud?!

A sheet of carbon fibre (10 of a fleabay) cut and bolted to the front of the regulator - keeps all the crap out of that area.

I'll try to get a photo.:SpinHappy_15XK8L:

That looks great Jenny, I want one!! Try not to break it next month, though!
(Good luck in the Legends, too. I'm getting married the same day, 24th, or I would have popped across the channel to see you off)
