Had my lovely tenere 2 weeks and just about covered 200 miles never had a

single before and love it the noise is awsome

The dealer lowered it front and rear as i am a shorty and loped some off the side stand as well but it still stood to upright when on the stand so once i got used to the bike height i have added preload to the front and rear which has raised the bike some but i am now happy on tippy toe and handles rearly well once i put some air in tyres that the dealer had forgotten about 0nly 21psi in the front

Anyway my question is i never intended to go off road got the tenere to be different and love it so could any one suggest some pure road tyre options??

I have done a search and come up with avon road riders AM26 and bridgestone BT45 in the standard sizes and what would be the widest rear tyre that would fit ??

You were all very good a while ago when i could not find a blue tenere but yamaha emailed me a list of dealers who had one and my local dealer powerbikeing then collected a boxed one from another dealer

You said you don't intend to go off road and you only got the Tenere to be different, which is fair enough as far as i am concerned.

As for tyres for the tarmac I would recommend a set of Avon Distanzia which you can find here:

I have the BT45 on. Well, I've just changed the rear for a Michelin Anakee but still have the BT45 on the front.
I do mostly motorway commutes and got 8k miles from the rear before I changed it, almost worn to the wear indicator (the sirac's I had before gave me 11.5k).

I've not posted a full review yet as I'm still considering the change to the Anakee (as that will effect my view on the BT45) but I'm pretty impressed with them to be honest.

Pretty much any other tyre you get for the Tenere is a block tread of some kind which will all whiteline considerable more than the BT45. The sirac I had was horrible (I replaced it with 3-4mm left and squared off, because of the whitelining) wheras the BT45 only had modest whitelining when completely worn. The dual compound really helps there as it keeps it a bit more rounded as the sides wear quicker (and give excellent grip).

The BT45 benefits over the AM26 in that it's a dual compound tyre, so usual harder centre and very grippy sides, it also has sillica for better wet weather grip. AM26 boasts long life but you can't get that and good grip as easily without the dual compound so there must be a compromise there somewhere (for BT45 it's probaly price). AM26 aparently resists whitelining with it's centre groove, I'd rate the BT45 as excellent there so not much in it there I suspect.

I'm not a massive fan of the looks of the BT45 however (compared to the sirac's or Anakee I now have). The front is fine but with only a narraw 130/80 rear tyre the streamlined bt45 seems a bit girly. AM26 looks marginaly better but probaly much different.

Prices on M&P show about �15-20 more for the BT45's than the AM26's, most of that difference being on the rear tyre of the set. If I was going back to more road tyres next summer I'd probaly go for the BT45 front (grip/handling/[confidence) and try the AM26 rear (cheaper and better looks - I don't really need the handling there).

In short I highly rate the BT45 and suspect you get what you pay for over the AM26 (which I have not tried).

For pure road tyres the Pirelli Scorpion Trail get a big thumbs up from me. Nice round profile on them so the bike leans over very predictably on the corners.

Bridgestone Battlewings- BW502, BW501. Fantastic wet and dry grip to the point where I'm almost scraping the pegs. Must try harder :D
Fine on gravel, **** in mud, but then what do you expect!

As a newbie may I ask what the cost are of tyres for our tenere bikes?
I fear I may need to sit down when reading the answer.

Do I take it that the tyres that come with the bike are not so hot?

I will only ever use the bike on tarmac, my son will mostly use it on sandy lanes.

If you work on �200 for a set fully fitted and balanced you won't go to far wrong. Of course if you can fit them yourself you can probaly save �50 of that.

I would say the Siracs are excellent tyres, I've had mine to the edge of the tyre in the dry without issue and they even manage the odd green lane. Havent stressed them much in the wet but thats because I'm getting on and prefer to keep it shiney side up but I dont feel any need to change them until they are worn or squared off.

I rekon with the ace terrain you have over there I would fit some knobblies there are so many great trials in Andorra
