Yamaha Panniers

Hi, I bought a 2nd hand 08 Tenere with Yamaha Luggage, not good. Trouble with the locks, ill fitting lids, you take the Top Box off and the fitting plate is not suitable to strap anything to it, very plasticky. If I had the choice..... then NO!

:hello: and :welcome: to :660:

A lot of Tenere owners have experienced the same problem, the original panniers are lovely but the locks and the keys are very badly made.

Ask for a lock replacement and it will happen again, your best bet is to get a a reputable firm to fit upgraded locks at your cost unfortunately.

The biggest problem with the locks is lack of lubrication - I always put this down to poor PDI.

The best product to lubricate these locks is Wurt HHS2000, in fact it's probably the best all round spray lub there is !!

I agree with Gas - Wurth HHS2000 is one of the best lubes around and certainly the one i'd use in the locks. I used to work in a Valeo lock manufacturing plant, the lube that was put in the locks was a sticky silky golden coloured lube called TriFlo - HHS2000 is the closest thing i've found since the place closed. A tip though - it is an adhesive lube though so dont use it anywhere where dust can get to it (like the chain) as once dust and grit get mixed in with it it turns into a very effective(adhesive) grinding paste.
