Tenere XT660Z Motor Oil Change

Hello,

Next weekend Im going to change the engine oil in my bike. Ive already read the service manual about this issue, but I have a question that isnt clear in manual, where is located the engine oil tank hole to insert the new motor oil? Is it the same where is located the dipstick to check the oil level, near the steering head?

Thanks to all,

MikeMota

Mike,

Ola, como esta?

Yes, the dipstick hole is the refill hole, you need a funnel and a piece of tube to make it easier.

Just fill a little at a time as it can take a while for it to settle properly and its very easy to overfill.

I'l be in Portugal for most of October, south to start them around Aveiro/Agueda, fancy a beer one day?

I also have some trails I want to take a look at south of Torre de Moncorvo.

Thanks Nick,

The funnel or the tube must be very thin, because the hole is very tiny :)

I'm from the north of Portugal, at 150 Km from Aveiro and the beer as to whait for another time.

There are also very good trial tracks here, at gers, near Braga.

By the way I'm gona use Yamalube Full Synthetic SAE 10-40 oil to my engine, wat do you guys think about it?.

Thanks,

MikeMota

I do prefer to use a full ester synthetic 20W50 (like the motul 7100) or 15W50 or 10W50 if you can find a full ester type, IMHO xxW40 is too thin for the gear box and clutch. For the engine itself a xxW50 is fine if you allow it to warm it before riding. If you ride regulary under -5 Celcius, then use a any good synthetic 10Wxx oil in winter.

have fun,

j.
