Flat Battery....

Hi,

Just got my bike last week and not yet got the hang off the parking light setting on the ignition and keep turning it to this setting, when supposed to be locking the steering, and walking away...

As a result I now have a flat battery. Can you push start a 660 Tenere ? (last bike I push started was in mid 80's and a DT 50, so bit different)

Is only option to charge with charger ?

Thanks

You can put your bike into 3rd gear and push it to start but there should be a minimum of charge in your battery to start a fuel pump when you turn ignition key to ON. Otherwise you'll have to push your bike with clutch engaged for quite a long distance to allow fuel pump to prime the system with fuel + power supply for other ignition/fuel system components, ECU,....and that is a hell of a job....
In that case charger is better choice.....

Thanks Medo

Tried pushstarting and no joy, possibly though because in pouring rain and no hills nearby.

Went for charger option in end

Thanks again

The XT needs a min of 10 Volts to run the fuel injection & fuel pump before it will start. If the battery voltage is to low the XT will not start by pushing it.

Charge up the battery using a battery charger.
