Tenere Rack MK2
I've had the rack design improved - it's a small mod, but I think it makes a big difference. The rack is now cut out with a curved cutter (which i've had made) so that all edges are completely rounded. This gives the rack a much nicer smoother look, as well as removing the last possible wear point on straps etc. Despite the improvement the price stays the same.
Just to recap, and for those who don't know - Tenere Rear Rack. CNC machined from 4mm 5251 high grade aluminium bead blasted for satin finish, then anodised (silver or black) CNC turned 1050 aluminium legs, anodised to match bolts supplied are high tensile bright zinc plated steel. Price per rack - 43 Postage for one rack within UK 4.50 Postage outside uk, please PM for price. I have 5 black, and 3 silver. some pics below, once the weather clears up i'll take some more. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2479/...830f3e96a9.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3433/...8a94d4d57b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3486/...d72ca51d96.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2592/...6bf68469b6.jpg I'll probably start selling these on Ebay soon, i'm probebly pushing my luck with the Forum Mods already, so keep an eye out on there too. :023: Cheers Pete. |
Thanks Pete.
My rack arrived today and has been fitted already. Nice rounded edges as Pete describes above. Thanks, Nick. |
Maybe a daft question but would this still enable the use of the Yam top box . Ie: Would the fitting points stick through the holes on the plate so you can use it for both?
EDIT: No is my answer looking at it but that would be a great mod with the best of both worlds |
You are right, it doesn't allow fitting of the top box whilst rack is fitted - however it takes only minutes to fit so if you are going on a trip you could always swap between the two. Top box on its own for short trips near home - panniers and rack with tent etc for longer trips.
Alternatively GasUp has adapted a rack with some plastic blocks shaped to fit the top box receiver on the bike - that way the rack slips into place like the box would, though i dont know how it locks into place. Darren - pics? |

When you've got all that covered, I am as happy as Larry.:icon_thumright: |
Aha! Allo Capt', I saw that you'd posted in this thread and thought "ah, someones finally had enough of me" :)
points noted - the quality, reliabilty and compatibility are already sorted - and the discount side of things i'm striving towards. cheers Pete. p.s. if i sell 'em in the for sale section, what are my chances of a 'sticky'? :hidesbehindsofa[1]: |

I obtained some nylon block and carved it to mimice the underside of the topbox, in the important places anyway. I then welded up a small subframe to hold the various pieces of nylon together. Bolted the racj to the subframe and away you go. It was a very time intensive process, I'll be happy to show people it, but as for producing another this has to be a one off i'm afraid. I'll get some photo's later. |

Hi
Is Peatbog still around?? Have PM`d regards racks so if anyone knows him give him a shout Thanks Mark |
Sorry folks...
my computer is pretty dead, it's not worth turning it on due to the time it takes to do anything on it, so i'm kinda :offtheair: for a bit until we get a new one (next month). i'm checking emails where/when i can but its a bit hitty-missy. Brads, apologies - PM replied to. With regard to racks - i'm actually sold out just now other than a slightly faulted silver one, but a new batch is in progress. Pete |
Hi Pete - great to see the racks are new and improved, and looking as tasty as ever!
btw. How's it going with that other little project? J xxx |
My Peatbog rack arrived yesterday. What a great quality piece of kit. Fitted like a glove and looks great. I have the black version. Clearly a bit of kit designed by a 'user' rather than a designer.
Well done and how are the belly pans coming on? :happy3: Go on . . . you know you want to make them! A big thanks. |
Order waiting for you on your PM, when you get new racks...and a kompewta.
|
Ill be PMing you very soon :) Thanks!
Later edit: PM sent :) anybody home? :P |
Does anybody knows Peatbog personally? Is the guy ok? I want to buy a rack from him but it seems nobody's home!

quite a few of us had parts from him, and so far (unless I'm mistaken) you've not given him any money. so at worse, he's missing a sale. Just be patient, his last post is '24-11-09, 21:50". if he has not replied, he certainly has a very good reason. |
As Zou says, Pete has had some computer problems, and doesn't have easy access to the internet/email at work... I spoke to him the other day and he's hoping to get back on line soon...
I'll let him know you are looking for a rack and see if you can't get in contact some other way... Pete is a top bloke btw. Jen xx |
Thank you guys! No I havent give him any money but I wish I had! :) I really want a rack from him, they are the best I've seen as far as design goes. Ill try to be patient :)

superb piece of kit
Tell you what. I've just fitted a second hand rack - and it is a superb peice of kit (I used to manage a sheet metal shop, so I know what crap looks like...and this is not it!).
I believe he has improved them further judging from what he has written, (rounded edges), not that I would have any issue with the one I have - very nicely finished. :blob7: |
I've got a black anodised mark 1 version and want to let you know that the black finish lasts well. I've done about 4500miles with mine and have my U-lock strapped on the rack inside a bag. I'm sure it moves around a bit with the vibes and I fully expect the finish to mark but there's hardly a mark on it and no bits that have worn off. Very impressed and hope to see some more of peatbogs developments soon. I think he said a while back that he was looking at a few other things like a radiator guard, tail tidy, etc.

Hello. following a recent purchase - i am now well and truly online again, and wallowing in high-speed-pentium-dual-core-windows7-8mbbroadband heaven. ooooh the speed of it! - or is it just that this one works? My sincere apologies to those folks who have been trying to contact me (semingly quite a few) i'm currently wading through a mountain of unread emails and unread PM's so if you've sent a message please bear with me just a little longer - i'll get to you eventually. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible :) Pete. |
Welcome back Peatbog !!!
Regarding the rack, I have one of the 2nd batch of black (1st version) and despite some abuse it is still in very very good condition. There a few scufs here and there in the corners due to some aggressive bungee cords strapping, but the matt finish holds well ! I'd definitely consider buying additional Peatbog accessories when they become available ! |
Ditto that I want a water pump protector :)
|
Mr Bogs rack is very good - I'm going for one of the new one's (nothing wrong with the existing, except rather than metal hook bungees I'm more of a strap on sort of chap --oooh ahh mrs--- and the new one's have smoother edges, better for my application.
And yes water pumpy protector thing - how much and wazzit look like? PS Mr Bog, gald you're enjoying you new supersonic speed :computer: |
