Anyone running Mitas E07?
If anyone is or has used the Mitas E07, what's your opinion on these?
Thanks, Nick. |
Nick,
I've used one on my Yam WR250 R for green laning and raod use and its pretty good on both surfaces. Not sure how it would hold up on the tenere but its been Ok for me. Cheers WB |
Ordering a set tomorrow... Will let you know when fitted..
|
Well i have got round to getting a set ordered, will let you know when they turn up.... :045:
|
I'm on 08's nice tire but no good off road lookang at getting 07 next or MITAS C02
|
I used them on a 6000km trip around Europe, I like them.
The rear weared evenly and still has a few thousand K's left. Most of the time it was bone dry and the grip was good for the normal XT sort of speeds. In the wet they were fine also, only remeber one spin-up on the rear when crossing a white line. No idea what they're like offroad... Nick |
Where did you guys order the E07s from please?

The E-07 are not listed on the web site but they are a Mitas dealer so can get them. Will take a few weeks for shipment at the mo as they have to be ordered in. Come in the right sizes for the Tenere, are T rated, 45 for the front and 55 for the rear delivered. They were saying that they may start to stock them if there is much more interest in them.....:038: |
Cheers Banksy, I had a nose on there yesterday but couldn't see them. I'll drop them a line. Want to get the TKC's off now the snow has passed.
|
Just to say I've placed an order for these, and Gwyn at Trelleborg said there had been a bit of interest in them. Should have them in a couple of weeks to try. Will let you all know...
|
Arrived today, will get a chance to get the levers out on the weekend. Will be interesting to see how they compare to the TKCs, and I'm looking forward to being able to get some lean on again. TKCs were sans strips within the first trip.

Still waiting for my set to arrive! :thumbleweed: |
Following the good reports about them and wanting something in between the Siracs and TKC80's, I ordered a pair of E07's on Saturday afternoon (Mr Trellesport phoned me back whilst I was out waliking the dog) and they arrived by UKMail at 6:30pm tonight (err - crickey just seen the time. Make that last night!).
What service!! Couldn't wait till the weekend so spent the evening in the garage fitting them. Took a while (trying not to scratch those black rims!!) but they seated really well - at least compared to my efforts with previous tyres. |

This is a reply I had from Gwyn, loads of free advise and a cracking service Hello Rick I appreciate any feedback and of course any mentions on bike Forums, you will have to tell me where to look. The tyre situation is a minefield and of course ask 100 different guys about bike tyres and you will get 100 different opinions. Trelleborg is owned by Mitas and the name Trelleborg will be fased out on the tyre sidewalls over the next couple of months. The tyres will remain but will be known as Mitas X Treme in all of the product range. I will put something to that effect on my website which will also have a major overall over the next few weeks. Just for information, the Mitas / Trelleborg tyres are without doubt as good as anything that you can get. They are not a cheap tyre as is perceived, they are real superior quality but the prices can be kept down because there are no reps out on the road running around in company cars. They also spend nothing on marketing which is why they are simply not that well known. The range for the big Trail bikes is now getting better and better and will continue to do so over the comming months. If you look on my web site sometime at the Mitas E-09, we used them recently on BMW F800 GS machines in Portugal and they were fantastic. These are quite an aggresive tyre though so obviously life span would not be great but easily compared with the Continental TKC's for wear and out performed them "off road". A new tyre on the market for the big GS Bikes is one called the E-10 Adventure, these are now being fitted to the BMW "Off Road" School bikes along with some of the E-09 tyres. Another tyre worth looking at for serious mileage is the Mitas E-07, more road biased but a very good tyre in most conditions and a nice wide fitment in both 17 and 18 inch wheels Anyway, I could waffle on all day about tyres, get in touch anytime if you require any further information. All the very best Gwyn |
Yesterday i set about fitting the front E07..... Took a while as its my first time fitting but it went on in the end.
http://i40.tinypic.com/s4wf1v.jpg Tried to fit the rear today but for the life of me i couldn't break the bead on the old TKC.. Tried G clamps, Standing on the tyre while it was flat on blocks the works... In the end i took it to the local tyre fitters who popped the bead for me, I then wussed out and got them to fit the new tyre for me... http://i41.tinypic.com/svooj8.jpg |

Well done Mike :eusa_clap::eusa_clap::eusa_clap::eusa_clap::eusa_ clap: |
For years I could never manage a rear tyre. But as always it's just a matter of the right tools for the job. Soapy water helps for a bit of lubrication as well, but not dishwashing soap - salt!! - you don't want unseen corrosion. Turtlewax or similar car shampoos are salt free. A good pair of long levers is a must - I use these
Draper ones. The hooked end is used to push the bead into the rim well although you may need a spacer (to act as a plunger) between the lever and tyre - I use the footrest rubber.
Let's just hope that Mitas don't change their marketing strategy and are able to keep the prices low. As it stands now and if the mileage claims of the E-07's are true, they are the only brand I'll buy in future. I guess we could do our bit by spreading the word (I see Uncle Ricky has already started:eusa_clap:) |
Levered them on last night, after using the Binnedit as a bead breaker. Rear was very easy to fit in comparison to the TKC80, front a little tougher.
Few miles this morning and the bike has got it's lean back, and the ride is smoother (which is what I was expecting). Heading off on a ca.1500mile trip next weekend 2up with luggage, so will see how they do then. Happy so far. If they're good in the wet, then I'll be very happy. |
