Filling up

Anyone

1. What sort of mpg should I expect?

I've been quoted 60 mpg, but my bike is doing a lot less than that & i've only done 448 miles and not yet exceeded 56 mph. I've tried filling up 3 times.

2. Is there anyway to get more petrol into the filler without spraying petrol all over the bike & yourself?

I take longer to fill the XT, dribbling in a little at a time, with the gas foaming at the lip of the filler, up to 11.50, than I do shoving the diesel spout up to the plastic guard into the pickup & putting in 75 worth.

It's like it's been designed to be re-fueled via a jerry can!

LOL!

Im getting 60mpg easy 125 miles from filler neck to fuel light, and thats not hanging about and i,ve never had a problem filling up just mask shaw the nozzel is going through the baffle plate in the top of the tank.

70mpg at best, 50mpg at worst (thrashing it) normally get 60mpg on commuting through motorway/town work over 20miles, I think it all depends on the way you ride it and when you shift up a gear, try short shifting. Also make sure you air filters clean, the fuel filters cleaned, oils changed and filter (if its a used bike), brake discs arent rubbing, or that your not holding the rear brake down with your foot (some people do this with moto X boots on and dont notice).

As for filling it up put the nozzle right the way in and fill it up until it clicks then just pull the nozzle out a bit more fill again etc etc, never really have much of a problem my self doing it.

Very variable as to when the fuel light starts doing its thing, often goes on and off alot, but average mileage 55 - 60mpg depending what I've been doing. Thats with MTC after market cans, K&N Stage 1 and CO2 cranked up 10 or 15 can't quite remember. Found the filler a little odd first time but no problems since, just nice and careful once its getting to the level of the inner bit (sorry for the highly technical term there folks).
Cheers,
Selina

All

Thanx for the info!!

It gets it's 600 mile Service on Sat, so i'll interrogate the dealer as to it's tickover settings!!

i must be doing something VERY wrong when i'm trying to fill it up!! i don't "insert" the nozzle into the baffle, just hold it steady & squeeze a little.

Somehow that sounds dirty!!

<hahahahaha>

Technique! Technique! Technique!

Obviously more practice is needed!

<grin>

Just get the nozzle right in like other things:002: and pull the trigger all will sort it self out and click when you need to remove it a bit to fill further

I never get more than 50 mpg on my bike.
And yes, filling up, just stick it in and pull the trigger ;)

1. Got the dealer to adjust the tickover and fuel economy has significantly improved, plus I now get little popping sounds during engine braking!

2. I've found out how to "address" the fuelling issue, by approaching the bike, nozzle in hand, from the front. I can then stuff it strait into the hole <narff narff> & fill-up without any spillage!!

Many thanks for the help!!
