Hi, it should protect the water pump, weather it would withstand a heavy fall or not I don't know but seems pretty sturdy.
The mudguard doesn't seem to effect the ride so far but I will let you know how I get on. For 15 though thought it wouldn't harm trying. A lot cheaper than TT or off the road!

I saw that sump guard on E-bay (which is funny, since the location written in there is about 15 minutes ride from my home), but decided not to buy it as it doesn't look like it protects the water pump.
The mud guard is nice.

How is the ride the the mud guard?
I'm thinking about adding one, but I'm worried about the effect that it might have on road handling.

Hi,
The engine guard fits straight onto the front mounting points and fits onto the rear mounting points that are a bit further back. Went straight on. It came in Annodised black. Pretty pleased with it though and should hopefully save the water pump too.

I had to tinker a bit with the front fender. I basically took a chance and bought a standard Poliosport YZ Front Fender. I had to leave the tow hook on except i turned it upside down, drilled the holes in the fender a bit so I could move it forward a tad and then finally took the washers off the radiator bolts and replaced with rubber ones to give me another mm or two clearance and that was it. Sounds like a bit of a faff but was not too bad and I can still put it back to normal again! I will post some better picks when I get the chance.

Just need some Knobblies now!
Cheers

Adam

I will post some

What does the new engine guard fix to ?

It looks like it used the same front mounting points as the ABS one ??

And what about the rear ?

Did you paint it, or did it come in black ?

The high mudguard looks good, I think - it's difficult to tell, could we have a picture in the daylight ??

Was it s a straighforward replacement ? any 'adjusting' needed??

Questions questions questions.....

Another option would be the Polisport KTM Supermoto shape front mudguard (the one you'd fit on an EXC if you were running 17 inch wheels)... I have one of these and have offered it up, and it looks like it would fit without modification, other than making sure the bolt holes (you need to drill them as they are not pre-drilled) are positioned with the fender forward rather than aft... it would be snug to radiator, but I think you'll be ok...

As for handling, I'd agree with Adam... I can't see how a high mudguard is going to have any real effect on a 180Kg bike... give it a go?

I fitted some engine bars a few years ago, but now madeup a sump guard made out of a shovel (with a few brackets) - got the idea years ago when I thought the sump guard on my Bultaco looked like a shovel, works a treat.
