Tour X 2
Ok so i,ve been using the TourX 2 for 18 months now and this is just a bit of a sumery of what I think of it!!
I,ve had enough of it!!! Its too noisy, I have had too replace 3 of the screws that hold the peak and visor on as they broke and now the 2 plastic bits that fit against the peak have busted (im not heavy handed) 2 visors have busted where they go over the mounting pivots, and now today on the way home from work as I did a life save before an over take a 3rd visor has busted because the plastic bits on the side of the viser have busted and the wind riped the visor open. As I say this is just my findings with this lid but now it gota go!! Oh yer if you wont to change a visor its a 10 minnet job with a screw driver! |

I'm on my second tour x(1) with no problems to report (other than the usual scratches everywhere!) |

You're the second person I know who's had issues with the screws and visor...
Kinda glad I opted for the Shoei |
I"m in the market for a new lid... thanks for the post Bear I'll knock the TourX off my shorlist, besides for that much dosh I'd expect it to make me coffee in the morning. Think its going to be the Airoh S4 despite the highwayrobbery :068: price for a dark visor.

The trouble is every time you bust a visor its 40 odd quid for a new 1.
Ive got my eye on a new lid so when it turns up I will post some pics. :eusa_clap: |
I never had pb with my Tour X2 except that it was misting heavily and not pinlock compatible.
Then I fell off in the moroccan desert and had to change it. I now own a Tour X3 since last december and have covered about 12 000km with it in all weather conditions (including trail riding in Spain) It's probably noisier than my full face but I wear ear plugs most of the time, so it doesn't reaslly matter. 1 plastic screw holding the peak visor broke, but I have 4 spares from the Tour X2. Changing a visor takes about 2mn and a 5cents coin ;-) But I agree it's not as easy as it could be. I couldn't go back to a helmet without a peak or at least integrated sun visor. I'm very happy with the Tour X3 with the new vents + pinlock + peak designed reducing the turbulences/vibrations |

I have the x3 and apart from the wind noise (wear ear plugs anyway as im going deaf) i find it an amazing helmet, i got my on the recomendation of my dad who got one after having the x2

Like I said im just relaying my findings with my lid im glad other people are getting on well with theirs.
Just out of interest what sort of roads and speeds are other peps doing? |
I go 15 miles each way to work through london, but when im out playing, i might be on the wrong side of the 70mph mark, which is where the wind noise comes in :101:

I would echo what zOU has said - I've had both the Tour-x2 and now the Tour-x3 (still got the x2 for more mucky trail riding) - ridden with both for tens of thousands of miles and I find them excellent helmets, very comfortable and well made (certainly none of these visor/peak issues - what are you guys doing with them?!)
I agree they are noiser than a road helmet, but having not tried the Shoei Hornet or Airoh S4 I can't compare with other peaked designs... Personally I'd rather look like an Imperial Stormtrooper than a Terrahawk... but then I'm fickle like that x xxx |
I had my TourX 2 for about 4 years now-stirling service! Its now on its third visor (only use genuine Arai) now with Pinlocks plus bought the inner pinlock visor insert and its tranformed riding in these cold and damp weather conditions. Double glazing for visors! Now when you breathe it just does not mist up anymore and I keep the visor securely fastened down all the time now whereas before I kept lifting it a little to try and keep it mist free.
What a brilliant invention-only wish I had discovered it earlier. A real safety improvement! |
